IPDESIGNS
What do you think of the Padres new uniforms? I think the Padres need to keep the yellow accents they had in 2016. What do you think? Comment below.

Dynamite_Nick
I would do something like this: 1972 uniforms, with the current alternate hat. I think that looks sharp.

Ray Lankford
The Twitter account @BBTB2018 has been churning out concepts and while they're a bit hit or miss, the hits are both great and pretty easy for the team to adopt. For example:
PrimalCookie
https://gwynntelligence.com/2017/02/07/largest-padres-focus-group-ever-conclusively-debunks-fowler-uniform-claims/ This is a pretty good read. It goes really in-depth into studying what Padres fans really want (despite the owner's claims that "blue is by far the fan's favorite look" and "the PCL jerseys are more loved than the brown) - with Facebook comments. Just that small amount of data proves than an overwhelming amount of Padres fans want the brown back, or at least away from the lifeless blue-white. VikWings
I just think Brown is an ugly color. But Blue and white/gray is so bland. They should've either stuck with the blue and yellow from the ASG or went back to something like the 90s look. Brown could stay as an fauxback/throwback. OnWis97
We've had a lot of Padres discussions and I continue to hold the following views: Pick a look. They are like the Canucks or Astros (pre change to retro-inspired look). There is not really one look you associate with them. They need to settle on something. As nice as the yellow looked last year, it added to the confusion. Don't just be blue and white. Why is the 5th-most important team in its own state insistent on wearing uniforms that help them blend in even more? Do something to stand out in some way. Be the Brown Team. Or go to that blue/yellow scheme. It looked great and nobody else is wearing it. Even blue/orange at least stands out some (though with the Mets and Astros, that's not my favorite option). Don't go to blue and red. Nobody cares about a minor league team from before they were born. If you go to blue and red, acknowledge that ownership just likes very basic, traditional baseball looks. Don't appeal to nostalgia that nobody has. I don't agree with people that say Minnesota, Cleveland, or whoever should change. These teams have been in those colors for a long, long time. But for an established team to suddenly add another blue/red team to the mix would be absurd. I think Brown is the way to go. Without doing the math, I am pretty sure it's now less than half of their history. However, most people are aware of that history and they would own that color in MLB. In order, I prefer: Brown and Orange of the late 1980s. I just thought the scheme looked great, particularly against the gray background of the road jersey. Brown and yellow. I think that this popular scheme is a little bit gaudy, but they'd still be the brown team and the majority definitely prefers it to my choice. Brown and light blue. Great, underrated combo. Brown/yellow/orange of the early 1980s. They'd probably eventually drop yellow or orange. It's servicable. Brown. Just brown and white. They could stand out and be boring. Everybody wins! I think this would be OK. They'd still be the brown team, but I'd be thinking of what could have been. Even if they go back to an earlier look, keep the "SD" tall. The early "SD" kinda looked squished down. And the "D" looked like an "O." Get rid of the gap in the "D." I think it's trying to give a drop-shadow effect or something. Whatever it is, I don't know that everyone gets it and it sticks out like a sore thumb, at least to me. I am hesitant to say this because I don't want to steer the discussion the wrong way but tone down the camo. Memorial Day would be great except MLB has already taken that over. So I'd go with one "Military Appreciation Day" per season or something. Not every week. Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse." I'm ok with the Padres doing this because this is their thing and they started it. It makes sense with the military bases over there. As long as they limit it to Sunday home games then it's fine. There's no random need for teams in NY, Cincy, or Pittsburgh to follow suit though. I just don't get it for those teams but for the Padres as long as they don't overdo it I'm ok with them keeping the military jerseys. They can still have a cohesive identity around that one jersey though, why they haven't has very little do with the camo jerseys.
Tygers09
IMHO I think the Padres front office just can't get the hint that people generally feel that the their team colors should brown, gold and maybe red.
Ray Lankford
The Padres owner recently admitted that they did this latest redesign based on focus group information from the beginning of the decade, before they did their last "major" redesign. That was before the popularity of brown so if they do a new study, and the owner claimed they'll consider it, they should get a different answer. Gothamite
He also admitted that he didn't actually see the results of that research. So it seems unlikely that they'll conduct a new study. hawk36
And who can trust any research these days? If the owner prefers navy, I'm sure they'd skew it to only ask people who have previously preferred navy, etc. I just wish management would have the guts to admit they don't like brown and won't go to it full time and be done with it already. AceHawk447
Of previous looks, I lean toward the '90s one. As far as brown, my favorite color scheme suggested on this board would group it with a sky blue (cerulean?) and an optional sand/champagne. [The right shade of blue would counter the two neutrals very well.] Another suggestion...how about wine and sky (with, again, an optional sand)? The Padres would especially "own" wine the way they would brown.

FiddySicks
I wonder if one of the reasons the Padres don't want to change to brown and gold is because all the seats in the park are navy blue. dont care
It isn't like you really see the seats during a game anyways with people sitting in them. I know the padres normally don't sell out the place but it's still hard key noticeable.
