kimball
Simply put ... the thread is of scrubs (or lesser caliber players) in jersey numbers a same team where an All-Star or HOF made that same number their own. Here are a few examples from the NBA ... E.C. Coleman, New Orleans Jazz Sidney Green; San Antonio Spurs Steve Kuberski; Boston Celtics Cazzie Russell; Los Angeles Lakers Rowland Garrett; Chicago Bulls. WSU151
Not a "scrub"...but not quite the legend either... Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Sec19Row53
Love this one. It was mistakenly issued by the Packers AFTER it had been retired for Tony Canadeo. It's where I sit.
leopard88
New York Yankees, No. 3 . . . George . . . "Twinkletoes" . . . Selkirk . . . Also, I couldn't find pictures showing the Yankees uniform number(s) of Cliff Mapes . . . who wore both 3 and 7 with the Yankees. johnnysama
That's Chuck Fusina, who wore #4 for the Packers (or at least, one of them), prior to Brett Favre.

Dale Dawson was the last to wear it before Favre. Prior to Fusina, it hadn't been worn since 1937. Here's Mapes wearing no. 3: Mapes was the last player to wear that number with the Yankees. The Babe was traded away after the 1934 season; but the number stayed in use constantly through the end of 1948, the year the Babe died.

Joe Ferguson was the last Bill to wear #12 prior to Jim Kelly. Joe was a good QB, but not quite on par with Jim Kelly.

stumpygremlin
The first thing I thought of was this: former Miami Dolphins safety Jake Scott. He wasn't exactly a scrub, though. He was MVP of Super Bowl VII (the undefeated team), a five time Pro Bowler, and is in the Dolphin Honor Roll.
