off topic but why do they look like they are wearing Black/Silver/Teal?  Was the lighting that bad in the arena they were in?

It's a really dark purple, maybe the camera too, plus the lighting isn't at Honda Center isn't that great either.

In the later years of his career, during his longest stay with any team after the Philadelphia Flyers, Ron Sutter was the last San Jose Shark to don #12 before Patrick Marleau (Marleau started with #14; he switched to #12 in 2002.)

Some other Kings examples

#8 Matt Ellis, 1 season before Drew Doughty was drafted

#11 Anson Carter, 2 seasons before Anze Kopitar's 1st game

#20 Ray Ferraro, 2 seasons between Luc Robitaille's 1st and 2nd stints in LA (he switched to 26 when Luc came back in 1997)

A lot of these are simply someone wearing the same number as a star associated with a given franchise... rather than someone wearing the same number and jersey that the star is most known for.

To illustrate my point, Dean May wearing number 5 for Philadelphia would not count since McNabb never wore this jersey:

Not exactly unknowns, but Kevin Gamble and Rick Carlisle rocking #34 on the Celtics. Pictures of Reggie Hanson's 8 games in the jersey before Paul Pierce are hard to find.

Gerald Green wearing #5 before being traded in the package for KG.

Not considered "scrubs" really by any means...

Zach Randolph in his half-season stint with Clippers ('08-09), the year after Corey Maggette left. #50 hasn't been worn since Randolph left, and for that matter, so hasn't Elton Brand's #42.

Before a certain redhead kid from Oklahoma made #32 famous in Clipper RWB, another redhead (from San Diego) was the most prominent player in franchise history to don #32.

They've been many that wore #4 in-between Ron Harper and J.J. Redick (most prominently current team color analyst Mike Smith and most recently Randy Foye)...looking at the list of other Braves/Clippers who wore #4, other than Harper, Foye, and Redick, everyone one else was a scrub.

A Canucks two-fer:

That is Brian Bradley, who played on the team from 1988-91, and....

Geoff Courtnall, the last Canuck to wear #10 before Pavel Bure broke onto the scene (although #10 would be worn by a few other players even after Bure left before it was retired in his honor in 2013).

Thomas Howard was the last to wear #5 for the Cardinals before Albert Pujols. It hasn't been worn since he left.

I wouldn't think it would ever be worn again would it? Surely the cardinals will retire #5.
