Let's see if I got this right... Nashville had the edge in the face off circle and had 4 power plays and went 0-4.

This is on them. You have that kind of advantage, you need to take advantage of it and make sure of it. Congrats to Pittsburgh on the repeat, but I think most people are going to look at it and think 'Man, Nashville kind of blew it... didn't they?'

They scored once....but it was mistakenly called off.

Had it counted, they could have used that to build momentum. It would have been a different game. I admit that Nashville does have their flaws. But I just don't think critical ref errors that are unreviewable should even occur in a Cup Final. If officials are even part of the discussion, I think there's a problem.

I don't care if Chicago/LA win again next year.

ANYBODY but Pittsburgh

Anyone but them.

I'm so upset by this Finals outcome, I might just cheer for Boston over Pittsburgh next year.

You'll be bitching should Chicago or LA win next year.

I'll bet real money on this.

So Pittsburgh was out-shot in 17 of their 25 playoff games.  Most for any Cup-winning team ever.

They rope-a-doped their opponents to victory.

A bizarre role reversal considering last year they were wildly outshooting their opponents

If you want to eat catfish that's been carried around in a guy's pants all day, go ahead.

That's a good point though I believe the guy interviewed in The Tenessean said he had it outside of his compression shorts. Perhaps grinding it up into dog food or compost would be better.

At the end of the day, it was a pretty damn good series, though sadly the same team caught the breaks when they needed to. I suppose there's enough credit to give, to Pittsburgh for fighting through it and to Nashville for failing to execute.

So in essence, yes the Pens benefitted from bad calls and also yes the Preds should've fought through it. This is a case when both those truths can be valid.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

I'll take $100 on this action.

@SabresRule7361, check your PMs. There's $50 in it for ya.

Look McCarthy. I think you're easily one one the best regular contributors this place has. I also think you're off-base on this one.

I mean I've played the game too. Maybe it's different because I was a goalie, but a perceived slight against us by the official always steeled my resolve.

Different people react to situations, well, differently.

And I definitely think you're letting your anti-Pittsburgh bias get in the way of rationality here.

You're also talking about one incident. I'm looking at around 20 right now. In this postseason one team routinely comes out on the smiling side of the officials' ineptitude and I don't even know how someone could argue otherwise. Why are the Penguins never asked to overcome a bad call in a key moment? It hasn't happened.

I am biased. I'm anti-Pittsburgh Penguins because they're the worst people I've ever dealt with both as an employee of Nationwide Arena and as a spectator and it's not close. Now that said, I gave them all the credit I could muster last year when they were clearly the best team. Annoying as that was. But I don't think "waiving off a good goal screwed the Preds" is getting in the way of rationality. When things are fair I give the teams I don't like credit. I did it a year ago. This wasn't fair and a lot of it hasn't been fair.

Well, I guess we're just different in that regard. I always found that the "two-second memory boys, forget about it and lets get the next one" mentality trumped the "well, we're :censored:ed" mentality after a disallowed goal or slip-up on the ice. I can certainly see where you're coming from, but I disagree.

It was never "well we're :censored:ed". It was "well this game is no longer on the level and they'd better hope the correct team wins". It's not basketball where scoring is easy and one bad call doesn't have much impact. It's a 0-0 game and they gave the goal back to the Penguins! That's about a 25% swing in win probability. If they can't do their job on one of the rare times when the thing goes in the net then that always took me out of the game. I like rules to be called correctly.

Nashville had 2 power plays with a short 5 on 3 in between, and yet they couldn't do anything with it. And who knows what happens if that Nashville goal counts, that could change the whole third period of the game. In other words, to blame the refs for Nashville's loss is completely ignorant. Congrats to Pitt on going back-to-back.

And wow, those Preds fans are ridiculous. Who throws stuff onto the ice when the players are celebrating? Just for that I hope that team never sniffs the cup again.

It's a crime Ron Hainsey is now a Stanley Cup champion.

Please..... give me a good reason why Hainsey doesn't deserve a Cup. The man had never made it to the postseason in his life, has had a pretty decent career & is a pretty solid blue liner for a 36 year old. IMO, this is his Andreychuk/Bourque/Recchi moment.

I watched this series here & there. The refs were bad, but Nashville just couldn't score on the chances they had today, like @Ice_Cap said. 0/4 on the PP with guys like Forsberg & Arvidsson.... not to mention Ellis, Josi or Subban.... yeah, that's just a team that wasn't ready for a game 6.

Congrats on the B2B, Pittsburgh. But I will admit..... why Crosby for the Smythe? He didn't deserve it.

Solid blue-liner?  He stinks as a defenseman and only got playing time because the Penguins' better defensemen were hurt.

Now given, not all on him, but he was a reason why his teams had never made the playoffs before this season.  He stunk while with the Thrashers.  Many of us named him Captain Turnover when he played here.

The average NHL team (Predators included) doesn’t crack 20% on their power play. Sure, Nashville had four opportunities on the power play tonight, but we’d expect them not to score a power-play goal in more than 40% of games given four power plays. That isn’t some grand failure — it’s a very reasonable outcome, and we should recognize that.

Also, a good goal that doesn’t count is a huge deal, especially when it’s the opener, and I don’t see how you could really argue otherwise. Just the same way that a bull :censored: goaltender interference call that takes what should be a 3-3 game and makes it 4-2 is a huge deal. (Yeah, I’m not still bitter or anything.)

It was 90 degrees in Nashville today.  I don't care how the fish got carried in (pants, purse, whatever), that fish didn't 'keep' today.

Pretty freaking astonishing to think Kessel has as many Cups as Joe Sakic and that Matt Murray has as many Cups as Bernie Parent.

Kunitz having the same number of cups as Gretzky is pretty weird too.

Agree 100%, Malkin was the guy I think should've got it. Guentzel probably was more deserving than Crosby as well.

So that makes you what, 0-4 in this year's playoffs?  Yeah, I think a lot of fanbases would rather you not watch or care.

I wasn't aware said fan-bases were so concerned about the teams someone from Calgary, who greatly tapered his expectations about the finish of this season, decided to bandwagon on.  I guess I should be flattered.
