Rockstar Matt
Weren't the Celtics complaining about feeling disrespected because people were saying they're a weak 1 seed? Then they go out and lose Game 1 to an average Bulls team? Hilarious. Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

Again, that is completely irrelevant, because "their best player" (who has a name, by the way) played terrific in light of that tragedy. Cleveland sports for life!"Laugh hard. Run fast. DG_ThenNowForever
That's cold. Thomas was crying during player intros. You can't just put that aside and pretend nothing happened. The team probably lost a day in prep, at the very least. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

The rest of the team played like trash. What is their excuse, if the person who was actually related to the person who died played great? Cleveland sports for life!"Laugh hard. Run fast. DG_ThenNowForever
Yikes. The Celtics lost for several reasons. It's hard to pick point just one. I'm certain a death in a star player's family didn't help but to your point, I guess, there's no way to be sure. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

They're the so-called number one seed, because they are the number one seed. It's a matter of fact, not a matter of opinion. Also I didn't realize the NBA switched to NFL format and became single elimination. Should the Celtics even bother showing up for the rest of the series, or just accept their fate now and fold the franchise?
Dynasty
Honestly, anyone in the East could've got the number one seed... and still end up losing their first series. Outside of Cleveland (maybe), everyone is fairly even.
Seadragon76
Thomas played to the very best of his abilities with the mental stress that he has endured for the time... there's no way in hell he gets the blame for Boston losing here. It's the piss poor rebounding effort that did them in... 53-36 on the boards is a very bad sign for a team that lucked out on the 1 seed because Cleveland crapped out during the 2nd half of the season. Now, the issue of his sister's death won't go away immanently.... that will stick to him for a long time. He is the team's best player right now and he needs to be Mr. 4th Quarter once again if they want to avoid an 0-2 hole.

Personally, I'd be utterly devastated if my sister died. I don't know how he was able to pull through that and play brilliantly. Mad respect to him. But to insinuate the Celtics lost because IT's sister passed is a bit disingenuous. It'd have a bit more credibility if Thomas had a bad game, but he didn't. He was the best player on the court yesterday. His teammates just didn't step it up which I find hilarious given their incredulity at the notion of being a weak number 1 seed. HedleyLamarr
What's the deal with the Grizzlies this year? Are they beat up again, or was the West just not that good from the #7 spot down? Aside from that year they went the the Western finals, it seems like Memphis is always injured as hell come playoffs time.

Their best players (Conley, Gasol, Carter, Randall) are healthy. They're just no match for the Spurs. So p****d that these two teams met again in the playoffs. The most boring brand of basketball. Part of it is that San Antonio is just plain superior, and the other part is that Memphis has no depth. The moment Conley comes off the floor, everything just stops offensively. FiddySicks
The Spurs are just about the worst matchup the Grizzlies could've pulled. Memphis is one of those teams that likes to grind games out, and if there's one team that can match their slogging style of play, it's the Spurs. And the Spurs do that style of game plan MUCH better than Memphis does. Combine the two and you're stuck with a slow, boring matchup that's still a bit of a blowout. It's funny because Golden State Portland is pretty much the polar opposite type of series, but with similar results. The Blazers style of play is a lot quicker and they have two great scorers, but they're up against one of the most efficient scoring teams of all time. But at least that series will be fun because it's like a high scoring track meet rather than a slow moving, low scoring, meat tenderizer like Spurs Grizzlies is.
