Gotta say, I never felt the slightest bit nervous that he'd actually go elsewhere. Blake embraced being a Clipper from day one and has never given any indication that he was ready for a change. Hopefully his loyalty can win him some respect around the league like it did with Westbrook last season.

I pretty much feel the same way...I also see this as an opportunity as more of a "rebirth" of his career going forward.  It's no other way to put this, but the last 2 1/2 years of his career has been a cluster****.

It's all on him now.

Awesome. Now lock up KD on a discount, and bring Iggy back home.

As much as I hate to say this I think he will be a new guy without CP3. He was there before Paul, but because of injury he was never really able to become that face of the team before CP3 showed up. Being the 1st piece of that new era of Clippers basketball in 2010 this is finally his time.

The real question is his health. I'm glad he wants to be a Clipper (not many do), but if he can't stay healthy that doesn't matter.

Tax is still an issue for them

Probably. It's the Bay Area. Tax kills everyone.

This Paul George thing though...

Let's for sake of discussion leave Indiana out of this because enough's been said about the plain stupid they pulled.

Of course OKC is the winner if you're picking one, but I'm not convinced this helps them suddenly become title contenders. I mean kudos to them for trying to make a big splash, but how far is a one-year rental going to take them when 1) Golden State is still freaking Thanos 2), San Antonio is always San Antonio, 3) Houston got better too, 4) you have no depth to back you up cause your team not named Westbrook, George, or Adams is basically crap?*

Again, kudos and points for trying, but they were better off working with what they had and continuing to rebuild instead of putting false hope in a really flashy and gadgety rental car that's only getting them through half the trip.

*Yes "crap" includes Kanter because his offensive output gets nearly cancelled out by playing worse defense than a corpse

Luxury and repeater tax during the years ownership is privately funding an arena issue was my point, not income.

They're basically double dipping season tix holders and cannot get another CSN Bay Area TV contract bump since they got it when Tuber/Lacob bought the team.

Oh most definitely. You're not wrong at all. But what do you expect parking prices to be let alone season ticket prices and n the new arena? It's probably not terribly difficult to even that out quickly. Especially in Tech Heaven.

Are the Warriors going to own/operate many garages or lots there? Have they bougt any? They'll get ROI on the volume of events and tickets, so they hope.

Granted, suite and club seat deposits will finance a portion, but their future tax payments are close to being as much as payroll. Not saying that they're losing money, but by asking some of the same folks who currently buy tickets at X and then to pay X+ for the new arena soon after Levi's is still an issue, especially if the Oracle years will have the best roster.

Word on the street is Stan Kronke, Dan Gilbert agreed to deal for Love to DEN, PG to CLE & Gary Harris to IND. But of course Pacers GM Kevin Pritchard killed it.

Most of the NBA execs I have talked to since Paul George trade feel that Kevin Pritchard was just too hell-bent on keeping George out of Eastern Conference; made it emotional instead of taking the best offer.

Jeff Goodman, ESPN Insider

Pacers FO really :censored: the bed. Even if George went to the Cavs, everyone knew it was one year that the Pacers wouldn't be good anyway. Yes, they booted him out of the the conference but they made themselves worse in the process.

And even if they wanted to move him out, they should have taken the Randle/Clarkson/2 first round pick deal from the Lakers (which could have netted them some combo of Derrick White, Josh Hart, Frank Mason, and/or Jordan Bell). I bet they didn't do that out of spite too.

The Pacers blew it, big-time. They got a local guy which matters for the fanbase, but that's all they got.

He is one of the best passing big men in the game.

I'll be shocked if Blake isn't playing the point-forward role most of the time from now on. He's not "just a dunker," he has a well-rounded game on offense. Just an unfair combination of size and skill.
