I might add that not every team listed has have a solid identity top-to-bottom but have a lot going for them (generally in terms of naming and colors). It's the baseball equivalent of youth hockey's gratuitous use of "ice" in names such as "Ice Dogs", "Ice Cats", "Ice Wolves". A good rule of thumb: if the thing named by your nickname does not actually exist (e.g.: a sky sock; an ice cat), then what you have there is not major-league calibre. And, as @RichO pointed out earlier, regional identifiers (such as "High Desert" or "Lake County") automatically rule a name out of sounding major-league. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I disagree. So now what?

There are many sky socks, unless everyone flies barefoot.
JerseyJimmy
I'm gonna go ahead and do the honorable thing here by completely avoiding triple-A teams, considering a good half/two-thirds of them have relatively major league-sounding names. -Harrisburg Senators -Trenton Thunder -Birmingham Barons -Jackson Generals -Tennessee Smokies -Arkansas Travelers -San Antonio Missions -Stockton Ports -Myrtle Beach Pelicans -Bradenton Marauders -Clearwater Threshers -Dayton Dragons -Peoria Chiefs -Brooklyn Cyclones -Boise Hawks -Spokane Indians -Vancouver Canadians -Billings Mustangs

generalshepherd141
Waterloo Bucks, Madison Mallards, Green Bay Bullfrogs, and Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League, which is close enough to a minor league.
HoopsCoach55
I still think that the two Oklahoma City Redhawks look before becoming the OKC Dodgers was a perfect major league look and name. The brick red and black of the original Redhawks look, which is from the brick red of our downtown, called Bricktown, with the OKC monogram of the last look would have been amazing as a MLB team.
