mcrosby
artplaya0711's recent post about the Boston Charm inspired me to begin work on a major expansion of the WNBA. Before I really get into team logos I want to ask your help in naming the rest of the league. The chart below shows some of the changes I've made to the NBA (because as long as I'm at it I'm going to fix the mismatched nicknames of the NBA) as well as some initial ideas for the new WNBA. Nicknames in red are nicknames that are switching cities. I want to have nicknames related to the NBA nickname, but not overly feminine, because the WNBA deserves respect, and only identifying them by their genitalia seems a bit much. ...there are exceptions to that rule, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to name the Bucks WNBA affiliate the Does, after their short lived Women's Professional Basketball League. Logos and maybe uniforms to follow the nicknaming of The Sister League. Bruins
Yeah, I agree the WNBA names shouldn't be overly feminine, but I also think the names should have a cool connection to women like the Liberty and Does. So a few I'm thinking of: PHILADELPHIA 20ERS- Signifies the year women were first able to vote MIAMI SOL LOS ANGELES CAPITANAS- Signifies a female ship Captain without having to use the term "Captainess" PORTLAND PIONEERS or GROUNDBREAKERS MEMPHIS FIERCE INDIANA CHECKERS GS BELLONAS- Roman goddess of war DENVER GOLD No doubt you'll slay it with this series, looking forward to it! But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. mcrosby
I think I might go with Philadelphia Bells, though 20s is a great name. https://twitter.com/OutOfThisWC

loneranger158
This sounds really interesting, especially me being a follower of the WNBA. If you need any ideas or want to collaborate I'd totally be up for it @mcrosby Parsons is my dude.
NSLthe2nd
The Tulsa Shock would be the sister team to the Thunder, but they did move from Detroit, though. You could add the Charlotte Sting, Portland Blaze, and Utah Starzz, and probably rename Utah. Memphis should have a team, too.
pianoknight
Since you're putting the Lakers in Utah, you could name the WNBA team the Ladies of the Lake. They could lie about in ponds, distributing magical swords on which we build a faulty system of government. 5th in NAT. TITLES | 2nd in CONF.
