I miss the sharp "2" that they had been using previously. That fit the station well IMO. Blink twice and without the website attached, I'd be confusing them for KCBS out in Los Angeles.

Sadly, that's CBS' trend with their O&O's (stations CBS both owns and operates); they all share the same graphics package and have pretty similar, if not identical, logos.

CBS has O&Os in NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, Sacramento, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Philly, Boston, Baltimore, Dallas, Detroit, Denver, and Miami.

At least from the mid-70s on, the CBS 2s in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago all had distinct logos from each other, although WBBM (Chicago) used a different logo.  Before then, and just like today, the Big Three did used standardization for their O&O stations--Fox just upped the game, by branding their stations with "Fox xx" right since the beginning of their network.

This was the "CBS/Channel 2" branding used on the O&Os in the mid-60s...

This latest?cb=20160203012011 was also used in the mid-70s on both WCBS and then-KNXT.

200?cb=20110416013157  This was WBBM's logo from the mid-70s until the late 80s.

The WJZ logo change is finally settling in. I noticed the reporters got jackets & mics last week and their social media pages changed their profile pics some days later. Today, the new logo finally made it on screen during the newscasts. The graphics, however, stay the same for now...

Continuing with the Baltimore theme from the previous post, today WMAR-TV in Baltimore introduced the first major overhaul of their look since 2002.  Somewhat noteworthy, since they are Maryland's oldest broadcast TV station.

Old logo:

WMAR 2013

New logo:

WMAR

HUGE upgrade in my opinion.

You beat me to the punch on that.  I agree that it is a big upgrade.

Make me the second victim to the punch. HUGE upgrade. I love the faux-back approach they took with the new "2", taking a note from this legendary, long-lasting logo:

I thought of that too . . . and I'm old enough to remember that version. The new one doesn't loop quite as far around (and isn't split, of course), so fauxback is a good description.

The New York affiliates have already been posted, but here's the logos from the affiliates in my native state of Connecticut:

Ch. 3, WFSB (CBS, Hartford):

One of the best local TV station logos you'll find, IMO.

I agree. The earlier 90’s version was much bolder... and more colorful:

Also used to love WPIX’s look. They showed great movies on weekend afternoons.

Dallas' ABC station, WFAA, is set a debut a logo soon; I found this T-shirt on their Facebook page...really nice touch, and something you kinda rarely see with TV stations.

A closer look at the "new" logo...

WFSB's 1980s logo was pretty good, as well.

I'm stuck trying to figure out if that arrow has any meaning to it. I mean....it looking like a subtle "D" for Dallas?

Meanwhile, in the nation's capital, their CBS affiliate recently went from this:

...to this:

  1. First off, not a fan of de-coloring the logo.
  2. I'm kinda not surprised considering a LOT of the stations Tegna owns (including this one and 8 in Dallas above) are going minimal
  3. I can see the replies flying in soon that the new "9" looks like KUSA in Denver
