MLB Redesigns Series

Not sure how I feel about blood red as a secondary color for Cincinnati, though I can't deny how good that second alt looks. I would use black instead, if only because there's a historical precedent for them wearing it, even if it wasn't their best-looking period. I too think there should be an option for them to wear a white top with red pants as a nod to their "Redlegs" name.

Are you saying for the away look? I do like how red/white/red looks, but I'm not sure how I feel about a white jersey being used

on the road. Here's how it is though:

Reds: Going with the white cap is the right idea for a solid red road uniform. Another idea might be to use the deeper red for undersleeves and stirrups (cap too?). Something to keep things from getting to searing.

White Sox: I like the original striping better. If anything it might be best to just ditch the collar and pants striping altogether.

I probably like the original striping for the Sox too. I think I'll leave like that.

And here is a version of the Reds away with the darker red accents. I don't think I'm feeling it.

Alright so unless anyone has any objections, I think I'm going to make the Cubs go with the brown and light blue set. I might try to give a future team some variation of light blue and red down the line.

Anyways, here is today's team, the Cincinnati Reds:

-Not much to change for the Reds since my tweaks concept, since the Reds were already given their own unique color scheme and uniform changes. If you would like to see my process of making this set in that series, click here.

-The 'REDS' font in the primary has been changed to match the rest of the set.

-The red uniform becomes the away, and a darker red cap and jersey have also been added.

-As previously said, not much changes with this set.

-The away uniform is given a white cap, belt, and socks to break up all of the red.

-The 'Reds' script alternate was almost a second white jersey, based off of this, and given red pants. However, I realized I'd kind of be breaking my own rule by having colored pants at home. If anyone would prefer me to bring back an all-white version of that, feel free to let me know.

I know there is not much new stuff coming from today's team, but if anyone would want to maybe give me comments on the series as a whole thus far that would be nice.

As good as the white cap/red uni combo looks, mightn't it be more appropriate to use a grey hat since it's a road uniform? Or is there precedent for teams wearing white hats on the road?

Here is a version with black as the trim. I personally don't like it as much, and would like to maybe save red & black for a future team, but this is at least what it looks like:

I wouldn't want to resort to navy and red for a team that I don't have to, but here is a similar adaptation with black that I could maybe base a set off of.

There is precedence at least in the Reds history. Since I'm avoiding gray in away uniforms, I'm trying to avoid it in overall schemes whenever possible. In this case, it's almost like a white football helmet that can be worn either home or away.

Just out of curiosity, what would an all-dark red uniform look like, or maybe a bright red jersey with dark red pants? Might be interesting looks.

This is how those options would look:

Can we see the black Reds alt 2 with red pants? If it's a road alt then it should be paired with red pants, should it not?

I never necessarily said it was a road alt, but here's how it would look if it was one:

I still tend to still like the darker red more, but any I'd love to have some more C+C.

Alright well although it was fun to try out a bunch of different possibilities for the Reds, I think I'm just going to revert make to something similar to the tweaks series and just use dark red as an accent. This way the set looks very similar to the old Big Red Machine sets, while still having a shadow. I kept the second white alternate to go with the red pants or for a possible white-out look. This should be the final update before I upload Cleveland later today:

Alright these next two teams might end up needing a lot of work, but here today are the Cleveland Spiders!

Logos

-Gone is nearly any trace of the Indians identity, and in its place comes an old-timey, throwback look that commends the earlier periods of Cleveland's baseball history.

-Yes, I agree that the block C is incredibly boring, but it's the one thing that has been present since Cleveland's inception as a ballclub. If the Browns reverted back to their old set and the Cavs kept what they have now, this set would fit right in with Cleveland's supposedly boring but historic type of branding.

-The very arched road wordmark comes from Cleveland's 1920 road set. It matches the current block C perfectly, and would give Cleveland a unique look in baseball.

-There is virtually no spider imagery in the branding simply because I couldn't find a way for it to work. Any time I've seen the block C with spider legs I've thought the two elements clash way too much.

-I chose brown and red with cream because its a color scheme that has been incorporated by many into Cleveland concepts, and I think it fits the area well as a unique scheme.

Uniforms

-Although there isn't any spider imagery necessarily, I always envisioned the stripes on the hats, jerseys, and socks as sort of a "spider-webbing" that ties the set together. I know most will probably think that's too Nike-speak, but it works for me.

-The road for now is a dusty gray since the look is so common in Cleveland's early days. I might just replace it with brown for the away, I'll see what you guys think.

-I fixed an error I noticed in my tweaks series, the striping on the cap no longer goes through the C like it used too, now more accurately throwing back to Cleveland's old hats.

-The number font is Staubach, one that better resembles the serifing of the block C.

That's all for know, let me know what you guys think!

Nice job on the Spiders! I like the color scheme and the old timey arched wordmarks. However, I do feel you need some sort of spider imagery in there somewhere. Why not a spider sleeve patch? Another idea would be to create a "web" between the lines on the cap, surrounding the squatchee. It would be like a more menacing version of the Angels' cap halo.
