Having 2 Central Divisions in 2 different conferences does not make any sense at all.

I'd only agree because the conferences are geographically divided. MLB and NFL have both overlapped with E/W, E/C/W, and E/N/S/W. But their conferences are nationwide.

New, straight outta the 2100 series.

In 2050, a group of basketball enthusiasts, two from Tijuana, Mexico of American descent, two from the Western United States, three from Indiana, 2 from New Jersey, and one from Toronto, Canada, met in an online basketball forum and decided to create a competitor league to the NBA called the Continental Association of Professional Basketball (CAB). The idea was four conferences of 24 teams each. The championship series is called the Hooper Bowl, which has the four conference champions. Similar to the Final Four in College Basketball, the Hooper Bowl takes place in large domed/retractable roofed stadiums. The winner of the Yankee faces the winner of the Heartland while the winner of the Cactus plays the winner of the Pioneer in the semifinals, and the overall winner of the Hooper Bowl will be called CAB champions.

NBA divisions have the least importance of all sports IMO. My proposal is to end divisions making conference standings 1-15 for East and West with the top 8 teams still advancing to the playoffs based on record. Make the first round a 3 game series, this will really test teams and end the boring first round much quicker, also placing higher importance on seeding (home court advantage). This will free up 2-5 games per playoff team. I would also make balanced conference schedules. This would mean each team would play at home and away against the opposite conference (15 x 2= 30). Against your own conference you would play each team 4 times, 2 at home and 2 away (14 x 4= 56). This would expand the regular season to 86 games and make the conference schedules completely balanced which would be more fair for eventual playoff seeding.

Is there a reason you chose to work with the specific list of minor league teams that you did? You went down to single A for teams like Lansing, while ignoring triple A teams like Syracuse. And why'd you move the Redbirds to Omaha? What's the method to your madness?

Well, Akron is considered the little brother of Cleveland... and they are literally less than an hour away, down I-77.

Toledo has a huge Michigan/Detroit populous, and was battle ground territory in the war between Michigan and Ohio... and many family traditions maintain Toledo as part of Michigan.

Not only that, you connected the Giants - if even they are in New York - to Akron, which is multi-states away.

'

Again, I'm not really sure what you expect me to do with that info. Yes Toledo would be for the Tigers, but then I would have to do something with Lansing and the Tigers are really the only good fit. I still need something to do with the NY Giants, who are yeah obviously getting screwed over a bit, but what else am I going to do while keeping the teams what they are?

As far as why I included a team like Lansing and kept Syracuse out, Syracuse is already in danger of losing their AAA affiliate. They've been struggling with attendance issues for years now, versus Lansing who's been one of if not the best lower affiliate draws in the minors averaging around 5K a game playing in what's just about a AAA ready stadium.

Do I think Syracuse is losing their AAA team tomorrow, or that Lansing is leaving the Midwest League for International league anytime soon? No. Do I think both moves could be justified and possibly could happen one day? Yes. I don't see Toledo and the Tigers breaking up anytime soon, but if for some reason they did, if I was the Tigers, Lansing would be on my short list for a potential replacement. If Syracuse again struggles to crack 250K this year for attendance, the Nats may start to get serious about looking into other markets.

Its sad to, because historically Syracuse has a been a pretty strong AAA market and I think the hope is still there that they can turn things around, but its getting tougher and tougher to justify them holding that AAA affiliate.

Or maybe the players fed to the AAA teams should stop sucking.  Only one trip to the playoffs since 1998?  Umm...wow.  I guess the Nats' farm system was worse than we thought.  (Also it helps if maybe local folks actually care about your MLB parent.)  Granted the Chiefs are locally/community owned, so they're probably safe.

After Watching the Movie "Night of The Comet" here's what it looks like when Teens had ruled the world to keep our lives after a Comet which wiped out 50-75% of the Worlds Population in an alternate 1984

First Up Baseball (using the Team Names from the Catherverse Baseball Side along with some I decided using the Minor League Source)

Eastern Region
American: Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, Toledo Mud Hens, Toronto Blue Jays, Washington Senators
National: Atlanta Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers (relocated from LA), Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates

Central Region
Plains: Cedar Rapids Kernels, Fargo Redhawks, Iowa Oaks, Kansas City Monarchs, Kenosha Twins, Lincoln Railers, Minneapolis Millers, Oklahoma City 89ers, Omaha Royals, Salina Stockade, St. Louis Browns, St. Louis Cardinals, St. Paul Saints, Tulsa Oilers, Waterloo Diamonds, Wichita Aeros
Ark-La-Tex-Mex: Acapulco Sunrays, Arkansas Travelers, Beaumont Golden Gators, El Paso Diablos, Dallas Metro Rangers, Guadalajara Gatos, Houston Astros, Houston Colt .45s, Jalisco Luchadores, Mexico City Reds, Mexico City Tigres, Monterrey Bandidos, New Orleans Pelicans, Round Rock Express, San Antonio Missions, Shreveport Captains

Rockies: Albuquerque Dukes, Arizona Diamondbacks, Billings Mustangs, Boise Spuds, Calgary Cannons, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Springs Sky Sox, Denver Bears, Edmonton Trappers, Helena Gold Sox, Idaho Falls Nuggets, Las Vegas Blackjacks, Phoenix Firebirds, Pocatello Gems, Reno Bighorns, Salt Lake City Trappers
Pacific: Anaheim Amigos, Fresno Grizzlies, Hollywood Stars, Honolulu Islanders, Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Athletics, Portland Beavers, Sacramento Solons, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, San Jose Bees, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Pilots, Tacoma Tigers, Tijuana Toros, Vancouver Mounties

The Storyline: With a 96 Team League in Full Effect for North America, Baseball made a comeback in Canada, US & Mexico following the after the comet that wiped out 1/3rd of the Worlds Population down to 1.5 Billion, Cloning made it a good help to repopulate by bringing back many of the MLB Legends who had their lives expired including Babe Ruth & Ty Cobb, However it increase new talent to acquire many unknowns (mostly teenagers) to get the game going, however Baseball's Comeback did paid off with the addition of Women Entering the Bigs for the First Time.

In 1983, A Comet has hitted some parts in the USA which wiped out 1/3rd of the Population including Half of the Population in Southern California that wiped out the dinosaurs including the survival of the players on the NFL's Los Angeles Rams Roster and their opponent the New York Jets which cancelled their scheduled meeting at Shea Stadium and the Los Angeles Raiders which cancelled their match at the LA Memorial Coliseum vs. Houston Oilers (who kept all their players to shelter to a Comet which hitted Southern California) however Commissioner Pete Rozelle made a decision that the remainder for the 1983 NFL season has been postponed as some of the players are dead to the comet the rest had survived.

Eastern
American: Baltimore Colts, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Blitz, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Toronto Argonauts
National: Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Hartford Hellcats, Montreal Concordes, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins

Central
Plainsian: Central Iowa Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Omaha Interstaters, Saskatchewan Roughriders, St. Louis Cardinals, Wichita Warriors, Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Tex-La: Austin Texans, Corpus Christi Gulfcats, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Gamblers, Houston Oilers, New Orleans Saints, North Dallas Bulls, San Anotnio Gunslingers

Mountain
Rockies: Boise Steelheads, Calgary Stampeders, Colorado Springs Peaks, Denver Broncos, Edmonton Eskimos, Helena Highlanders, Laramie Lawmen, Las Cruces Lancers
Southwest: Arizona Firebirds, Farmington Grenadiers, Lake Havasu Ramblers, Las Vegas Blackjack 21's, Phoenix Guns, Salt Lake City Sharpshooters, Tucson Wranglers, Utah Gold

Pacific
Northwest: British Columbia Lions, Island City Invaders (Alameda, CA), Oakland Raiders (moved from Los Angeles), Portland Breakers, Seattle Seahawks, Tri-Cities Granny Smiths
Southwest: Fresno Raisin Fighters, Honolulu Hawaiians, Los Angeles Express, Los Angeles Rams, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers

However The Talent Pool thanks to cloning during repopulation did paid off with the Return of NFL Legends coming back out of retirement, however it did paid off like baseball with the Super Bowl Tournament becoming permanent as an annual version featuring Division Champions battle it with the Final 2 Taking Place in a neutral site.

Well, Akron is often referred to as Cleveland's Little Brother.  The 2 cities are in the same state and approximately 45 minutes away from each other,  taking 1 highway down and back, a straight shot either way.  Its a much closer proximity than New York, which is multiple states away.

Toledo is already the affiliate of Detroit.  Toledo has a significant Michigan/Detroit following.  Many traditional Toledo residents consider themselves part of Michigan, as the there was ACTUALLY a battle between Michigan and Ohio over the land Toledo is founded on.  Again, Toledo being the closest to Detroit... and Toledo being farther away than THREE other Indians affiliates (Lake County, Mahoning Valley, Akron).

Your whole post was based on "optimal combinations"... you don't get much more optimal than those 2.
