2017 NFL Season: Then there were Two

He says he's going to play until he's 45 or 50. He's one hit away from being done. It happened to him in 2008.

I'd be very surprised if he played that long even with the minimal number of hits he's taken.

I think his hitting 40 is the main reason people think he's nearly done.

He's beaten a lot of odds already and can probably get several extra months out of being a product of such a great system.  But I think he's going to hit a wall some day and given his age, I would not be surprised if it's this year.  (then again, given him and his team, I would not be surprised if it was 2020).

It'll probably fall apart all at once with him. Brett Favre looked capable and excelled in 2009, couldn't play the sport at an NFL level in 2010.

The same thing was kind of true of Peyton Manning's last year also.

The only reason I'm more optimistic is because there's never really been a QB that takes care of himself like Brady does. Peyton & Favre had a history of injuries, Brady has only  ever had 1  his entire career. So while that drop off is inevitable, I do think he will be able to push it back a few years.

It seems pretty clear that unless something catastrophic happens to him, Brady has no intention of walking away after this year at least.

Favre played hurt, but I'm not sure if Manning did during his starting streak, at least until the very end.

Each team will win 54 games and each team will lose 54 games....oops, wrong sport.

Bold preseason predictions:

  • Dallas will regress big time. I predict a 7-9 season.
  • The Eagles will win the NFC East - easily.
  • Tom Brady will finally start showing his age. He'll still be decent, but Jimmy Garoppolo will get some starts and the Pats will go 10-6 - which is still more than enough to win the AFC East by 3 games.
  • Helped by the return of Matavis Bryant, the Steelers will be the best team in the AFC.
  • The San Diego Los Angeles Chargers will win 10 games and make the playoffs.
  • Tennessee will win the AFC South.
  • Arizona will ride an easy schedule to the #1 seed in the NFC...then they'll promptly lose their first playoff game.

Im with you on all of these other than the Chargers winning ten games. No way that dumpster fire wins more than 6 games, tops.

I dunno. The main reason why they've been bad the past few years is due to the crippling injuries. I actually agree with 'Red and think they'll win 10 and make it in the postseason. They have the talent.

Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

They ALWAYS have the talent, though. There's too much outside crap that's gone on in the past year for any team to be successful, but especially a team as mentally fragile as the Chargers always are. They're also ALREADY feeling the effects of more injuries considering their top pick had his back explode before they even started practice. Chargers will be dead in the water come week 8 like they usually are. Only it'll be even funnier to see this year because they'll be playing in a glorified public park that's 80% filled with Raiders fans.

That Chargers winning 10 games? Really?

The Chargers are never going to win anything as long as the Spanos family still owns the team. Injuries are the convenient excuse... the real reason for the Chargers' atrocious on-field product is the Spanoses' ineptitude. Always has been, always will be - until they finally sell the team to someone who a.) cares about winning and b.) can actually afford to own an NFL franchise.

The Bills have traded WR Sammy Watkins & a 2018 6th round pick to the Rams for CB E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second round pick.

My girlfriend is a pretty big, sometimes irrational, Cowboys fan, and she said that the only thing she doesn't like is how Zeke got six games for slapping around a girl and basically committing sexual assault on another woman, but Lucky Whitehead got cut for not actually stealing anything. "Isn't that a bit hypocritical?"

She then said, "It sucks it came down on my team, but at least they're sticking to that zero tolerance for violence against women policy."

I must say, that response from someone who screams her head off at Cowboys games made me pretty happy. And honestly? As a whole I've got to give Cowboys fans a bit of credit here. The ones I've seen anyway, have been surprisingly levelheaded about this.

ALSO, I never realized just how much Zeke Elliot looks like an overgrown manchild. He looks like a little kid who’s on a trip to the pool with his parents, and he’s JUST about to cry because mommy took away his pool noodle and said he needed a nap.

Should an Eagles fan be happy that he's now on their team?  Keep in mind the Eagles CBs blow more than the whore at the end of my street.
