2017 NFL Season: Then there were Two

Yeah, he does. This whole Zeke witch hunt thing has been utterly ridiculous. They should have just suspended him for 1-2 games for being an idiot in the offseason and there's no way Zeke would have fought it, but by trying to pin a domestic violence suspension on an innocent man, who wasn't even charged by law enforcement, they've really shown the massive flaws in investigations conducted by the NFL.

Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

I've said it before, but the only Thursday night games should be the defending champs home opener to start the season, and then Thanksgiving. Ditch all the rest.

Goodell seriously deserves to go down as the worst commissioner in NFL history.

- Science exonerates Brady. Goodell still suspends him on a technicality.

- Their own appointed investigator says Elliot is likely innocent. Goodell still tries his damndest to suspend him.

- Meanwhile Kiko Alonso nearly tears Joe Flacco's head off and Goodell just ignores it.

About as "fair & balanced" as a stone & a feather.

Really makes me want to go out and buy one of those Goodell Clown shirts.

Goodell ruled on Elliott as it was an off-field issue, and given to him per the CBA.

With Alonso, the EVP of Football Operations, Troy Vincent, handles fines for on-field. Derrick Brooks handles appeals if those fines.

I did not know that.

That just makes both sides a completely incompetent though. As the havn't really handled the "on field" stuff any better to be honest.

Your previous post makes me doubt you actually did, as you would've alluded to the CBA.

I say cut down Thursday night games to just opening night and Thanksgiving, and move these extra games to Saturday nights during the month of December. The NFL has already started scheduling double headers on Saturdays again after not doing so for a decade. Weeks 13-16 can have feature a Saturday night game plus an extra 4pm game in Weeks 15 & 16 for a grand total of six games. If there's a scheduling conflict with college football games in early December, then move the first two Saturday night games to Friday. I think the players would be much happier with this type of schedule. They could even bring back their old "Run to the Playoffs" slogan they used for their TNF games in 2006-2008.

I'm indifferent to the opening Thursday night game (though it'll be cool to see the Eagles open the season at home on a Thursday next year), and obv Thxgiving should stay (though NOT with Detroit) but I agree with pretty much everyone else that the rest of the Thursday schedule needs to go to whatever false hell anyone believes in.

Friday night is harry high school stuff and should be a non-starter.  There's like a billion better things to do on a Friday night than watching football, I guess unless you have kids and no out-of-house life.

I do kinda like the December Saturday games, even though that kinda contradicts what I said about Friday nights.  Something about Saturday night just seems more natural than Friday - maybe because (for most people) you're not rushing from work and dealing with post-work activities and the general franticness that comes with Friday.

Also - I'd get rid of MNF all together.  Does anyone stay up till midnight or later to watch teams other than their own, or if they're loser dork fantasy players who need to see if their player racks up the 4.5 points they need to win their matchup?

Tuesday absolutely blows when your team has a MNF game, and similar to my comment re: Fridays, for many people there's just too many other weekday obligations, be it work, social activities, kid stuff if you have kids, classes, etc. to have to work in watching an NFL game.  It's a big inconvenience and I hope it dies.

I get that universities don't want to have to compete with NFL games in their markets on Saturday nights, but I never understood why Friday NFL games in December aren't exempt from this law because high school football usually ends in late October/early November. I know they had a Friday game a few years back (I think it was 2008 or 2009) on Christmas night.

I loved the old NFL schedule back when they used to have Saturday triple-headers in Weeks 16-17. I think they stopped doing this around 2005. Saturdays are definitely more laid-back and people are already used to watching college games. At the end of the day, the NFL would benefit tremendously from addition by subtraction. Get rid of Thursday Night Football, cut back on early morning London games or stop scheduling them entirely, and let the fans breathe a little bit throughout the week so that the anticipation for Sunday can build. I get that there's a lot of TV money they stand to lose by doing this, which is why they could still move those extra games to Saturdays in mid-December like they're doing now and sell that as a late season "Playoff Push" package to the highest bidding network. The TV bubble is going to burst soon anyway, they might as well accept that now and do themselves a big favor.

Jameis Winston is :censored:ing AWFUL.

They should have went with Mariota. He's made of glass, but at least he can get the ball in the same zip code as his receivers.

Eagles destroying the broncos every way possible. Starters, backups, old guys, young guys, best receiver inactive don’t matter.  Broncos offense blows but ppl said their defense was good so it’d be a tight game. Their d line is being abused, their secondary doesn’t know who to cover, they give up a 40 yd TD run to a guy that doesn’t even know the plays, and Carson Wentz is just doing whatever he feels like to them.

Havent seen an eagles team since the TO year that goes out there expecting to dominate no matter who’s playing and who’s hurt.

Still ways as to go, and I haven’t seen most of the other nfc teams play, but right now I can’t see them getting beat by anyone in a home playoff game.

Only the rams? And maybe, maybe Seattle but the rams do look quite as good as the eagles.
