2017 NFL Season: Then there were Two

The Rams are a good team, but there's a VERY good chance that they're probably going to dumb themselves out of the playoffs.

EDIT: They just did it AGAIN! What a dumb team.

Andy Reid and Alex Smith are the garbage gifts that keep on giving us garbage.

"you ungrateful philly fans don't know what you're doing running him out of town.  He's a great coach and won so many playoff games and you don't know football and....."

F him.

Really poor father yes. Should keep his gig? Yes.

KC has already tried "The Patriot Way" with Pioli as GM and him hiring Weis and Crennel as coordinators for his hire, Todd Haley. Pioli was rumored to have bugged phones at the same time too. So they really cannot go McDaniels or Patricia and back to Patriots.

With Reid, they're trying the Iggles success under Reid. It is good, not great, but even in a 32 team league, great is very difficult.

The only front offices with any true "success" left are:
Seahawks: hot early because of a cheap QB
Packers: which really isn't successful as they've got one Super Bowl with Rodgers and I've talked about Ted Thompson and his failures.
Giants: Super Bowl or out of the playoffs under Eli
Steelers: See Giants, but they seem to draft much better

Defense Wins Championships.

Defense comes up big on the road in the playoffs.Don't know if Atlanta is going to the Super Bowl but Philly is going to have their hands full next Saturday.

Falcons played a complete game.Experience showed.

Sean McVay, the hottest coach in the entire NFL coming into tonight, down 19-10 late in the game inside Falcons territory and..... you run a delayed hand-off on 3rd and 14? Really? Falcons defense played really well tonight, but the Rams just kept shooting themselves in the foot. Another example of (and I don't have definitive research to back this up) when a team rests it's starters in Week 17 and then struggles to find their offensive rhythm the following week. It took almost the entire first half for that offense to get going, and they still never looked like themselves the whole game. At least they still have a bright future ahead of them with a young franchise QB whose still learning.

As for the Titans... what a clutch comeback by Marcus Mariota and Derrick Henry. Reminded me of when Steve McNair and Eddie George used to grind out those tough playoff wins on the road back in the early 2000s.

The Falcons still had Quinn to realize how McVay calls plays.  Lots of podcasts tell us how McVay calls his plays by headset and then coaches against how the defense realigns.

The Titans are BAD.  That 1953 offense in 2018 doesn't really work with a power run game.  Mariota still will be forced to throw and they still cannot protect him to throw.

BBBUUULLLLLL... FECES

They already ran a play/called a penalty before they reviewed that second catch. Replay is a monster that just keeps getting worse.

As someone who remembers Bottle Gate very well, this play irked me.

The next play was ran. Legally. There was a penalty for offsides at the snap BY THE DEFENSE, so the penalty negated the play.

How, or why? If I'm any defensive team and want a catch reviewed before the next play I'd just stand in the offensive backfield twiddling my thumbs until they snap the ball and I'm offside. Which negates the play and gives more time for the REAL last play to be reviewed.

Total garbage.

Falcons offense > anything on PHL

Dirty birds are in the NFC title game.

I actually think this is the best possible matchup for the Eagles.  Atlanta won't be able to contain their pass rush and won't be able to establish a running game.  Hopefully the weather will help to neutralize their passing attack, since the Eagles CBs aren't great (though not as bad as they've been the past few weeks) but their safeties are strong.

Eagles offense will obviously need to rely on the run, with Ajayi and CLement having the main roles.  Blount is done, which stinks because he was a great story this year.

Eagles win 5 to -7.  Only way they lose is if they choose to, which as stated, they might.
