Could somebody explain to me why the idea that the Browns are going to a white helmet is being given any credibility? It seems so ridiculously implausible that it should get the member posting about it banned for life.

No one knows...

I don't think anybody is giving it any credibility.

This rumor doesn't sound true but the browns did have white helmets before switching to orange ones with a white stripe.

My #1 all-time guilty pleasure uniforms:

My white whale is an authentic AFC jersey from 00/01... when they surface online, they typically hit $500-$1K, aside from a poorly-listed Randy Moss game jersey I missed that barely cracked $250 :(

This is mine as well. I went to both of those games, and have been wanting an authentic AFC jersey for years. I have a very limited run NFC replica jersey from the 2002 game, but the AFC replica models never went on sale due to a printing error.

I hate the fact that on the NFC uniforms, the gradient continues from the pants to the jersey, while on the AFC uniforms, it switches to white on the jersey instead of continuing to the pants. Still like the uniforms though.

I think it’s implausible as well, but as a fan, I think a white helmet would look great if they went back to the previous uniform and the helmet stripe matched that old pant stripe. I just don’t have any faith in this team doing anything right anymore.

This is confusing. The AFC uniform is identical to the NFC one, just in red and with the gradients going in opposite directions.

The AFC gradient does continue from the pants onto the jersey, in white, before blending to red at the shoulders.

I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry

I know it's a fad that reeks of the mid-to-late 90s. But, also in a guilty pleasure manner, I think these are brillant.

Minority opinion?

I think he's pointing out that the AFC gradient reaches pure white before the pants, while the NFC jersey does not quite hit pure blue (note the contrast on Ronde Barber's pants vs stomach). The NFC jerseys do hit pure blue when untucked, but get cut off by the pants when used on the field.

For reference, the poorly-listed Moss gamer that went for all of $255:

I wish we had the same level of leaks for the Titans as we do for the Jags. I still have a hunch they are going to be truly bizarre.

I'm scared. I truly believe that nobody has any idea what these will look like based on the difference in rumors that have gone around.

Once we can varify what you’ve shared with me? I will be happy to vouch for you.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that if I was you.

The NFL has a strict five-year run for new uniforms, as all of us are aware of.  So ... they're going to allow the Raiders to go with a gold trim for their first season in Las Vegas, and then switch it right back to silver after that?  I don't think so.  That's downright hilarious from being so frivolous.

The Raiders never change anything. The only change I can ever see the Raiders making would be going back to the silver numbers and nobs with a black shadow on the white away jerseys which they last went with regularly in 1970, only to make a few repeat performances since then for either AFL-50, throwbacks, or Thursday night football. That look actually looks fantastic in my opinion.

Cleveland with a white helmet, and he's 100% pertaining to both teams?  As far over the top as the Browns last uniform change was, even that would be overkill to their longtime tradition for them.

Too many posters are paying too much mind to this persons fake info that he is spouting off about.

I don't recall him saying the Raiders change was for an entire season, so it could be considered an "alt", that they simply won't wear after a game or two during season one.  Alts have to live for a few years, but since they don't wear alts, even if the gold-trimmed ones just sit on the shelf after season one, it's no loss.

Not saying I believe it, just that the rules would allow for that.

I'm inclined to agree, but I want to do all I can to ensure he's given a fair shot. He claims he'll share his insider information with a mod who offers to see it, and I'm offering him that. I'm not holding my breath, but we'll see.

I have literally never seen this jersey until this discussion started and BOOM, this pops up on eBay for $30... the printer error checks out!

That looks like a Walmart/Target replica.

Retailers don't really carry specialty event merch, especially in that era... I used to live near Aloha Stadium - the Pro Bowl is flooded with this "level" of merch. I own a strange basketball-style Pro Bowl jersey from '09 I bought at a Waikiki flea market.

WOAH. Even though that was the story I heard behind these jerseys, I’ve never actually seen one (my NFC one is basically identical to this one but the numbers were correct and the fade is much better). This s is weirdly a bit of a whale for me, and I’m definitely making a bid on that.
