My family are from Memphis (other side of the state) and they and a lot of their friends never even considered rooting for “Texas’s other team” when the Oilers moved. I grew up in Nashville and was a young kid before the Titans relocated. Back then on most Sundays you were guaranteed to see the Cowboys on the NFC network and the Dolphins on the AFC network. Just to drum up interest? Possible. I wouldn't put a ton of stock into that quote. She's also said things like the old jerseys won't look out of place next to the new set. A lot of the buzz now has become that the changes are more subtle than many might have thought. Still noticeably different, but nothing like gradients or a complete color scheme change. I obviously can't confirm any of that, but the video and "tradition evolved" tagline seem to point to that as well.
