Sykotyk
Last state's championship slate is set. Texas' UIL has this four-day, 12-game schedule: Wednesday, December 20 11am 1AD1 Jonesboro v. Borden County (6-man) 2pm 1AD2 Strawn v. Balmorhea (6-man) 7pm 2AD1 Mart v. Refugio Thursday, December 21 11am 2AD2 Muenster v. Tenaha 3pm 3AD1 Brock v. Rockdale 7pm 3AD2 Gunter v. Newton Friday, December 22 11am 4AD1 Kennedale v. Carthage 3pm 4AD2 Texarkana Pleasant Grove v. West Orange-Stark 7pm 5AD1 Manvel v. Dallas Highland Park Saturday, December 23 11am 5AD2 Aledo v. College Station 3pm 6AD1 Allen v. Austin Lake Travis 7pm Waco Midway v. Cypress Cy-Fair 3 of 4 6-man teams are returning from last year. Strawn is the newcomer. Some new teams never to make a title game are: Muenster, Kennedale, Pleasant Grove, and College Station. The big heavyweight matchup between Allen and Katy didn't materialize. Instead, it's 6-time champion Lake Travis that gets to take on the 800-pound gorilla of Texas HS football. Allen's band is IMMENSE. Sykotyk
GEICO State Champions Bowl Series Third year ESPN/Paragon has conducted this event. First year was three games held at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton (I attended since I was in Ft. Lauderdale). Last year it was a doubleheader at Ford Center in Frisco, Texas. This year, it's a doubleheader at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Interesting in that GCU doesn't have football, and they're playing at their soccer stadium. Games are this Saturday, December 23rd. 6pm: St. Frances (MD) v. BIngham (UT) 930pm Miami Northwestern (FL) v. Chandler (AZ) Washington and Georgia didn't get a team picked this year. I'm guessing they plan on sticking to two games. HISTORY 2014 - December 27 (Burger King Bowl/Burger King State Champions Bowl Series) (@ FAU Stadium, Boca Raton, FL) Jacksonville Trinity Christian (FL) 35, Eastside Catholic (WA) 21 Miami Central (FL) 37, Bothell (WA) 27 Miami Washington (FL) 34, Bingham (UT) 28 (OT) 2015 - Did Not Play Original plan was IMG Academy v. Bishop Gorman at UNLV's Sam Boyd Stadium, but the NIAA wouldn't let Bishop Gorman play unless they decided to opt out of the state playoffs. So, no game was played. 2016 - December 23 (@ Ford Center, Frisco, TX) Chandler (AZ) 44, Valdosta (GA) 24 St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) 33, Bingham (UT)
MJWalker45
Interesting that they played in Dallas when UIL has been outspoken against Texas teams playing.
