As for the Shamrox, the team played in suburban Chicago, finished a pedestrian 12-20 over two seasons, and folded after the 2008 NLL season. But there's been maybe 30 team names all time in NLL, you think they'd consider a few more before repeating. I suspect the reason that they'd choose not to revive the Blazers brand is because two Boston-based pro box lacrosse franchises bearing that name have already gone belly-up... the most recent, less than a decade ago. As for using another city's nickname, technically speaking they're not. Chicago's National Lacrosse League team was the Shamrox. Boston's would be the Shamrocks. But don't the Islanders have a secondary logo with a lighthouse? This team would have to make sure not to get too close to that — unless, of course, the Islanders are on board with the synergy.
