ATLÉTICO SANTO DOMINGO

Very cool series. There's a lot of great looks.

As a Dominican, I feel inclined to comment on Santo Domingo's set. On a personal level, I don't think Columbus or any of his family should EVER be celebrated (but that's neither here nor there). As for their unis, the Cowboys look is very classy, I'd recommend going with royal blue...like their beloved baseball team (Los tigres del Licey) IMG_1452.PNG.c5443df92c3a83f1a25ebd8104119962.PNG

I know Columbus was a bit of a kook, but hey, a lot of famous people had their dark side.

LES PERLES DES ANTILLES

Les Perles play in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and they are the league's sole representative of Latin America's Francophonic community. The team was named after Haiti's nickname, Pearl of the Antilles, given because of the country's natural beauty as well as all the wealth it has generated for the old Kingdom of France in its colonial period.

The Pearls would have a rivalry with Santo Domingo over on the Dominican side of Hispaniola Island. Whereas ASD has a stately, traditional look, the Pearls chose to reflect the fun side of life on the islands. Their colors are blue and pink, and the stripes on their jerseys and pants have a wavy pattern. The logo is modeled after a clamshell and has a globe-like pearl in the middle with a profile of the island.

Feedback welcome. Diablos Rojos are next.

Here are the Red Devils, who call Havana, Cuba home. I experimented with putting a script logo on the back of their helmets, since I felt there wasn’t enough going on with just the horn. Similar to the NFC North, every team in the Caribe Division is in a four-way rivalry, jockeying for domination over the archipelago.

C&C appreciated. San Juan is next.

For Puerto Rico's team, I almost went with red/white/blue, for the actual colors of the flag and the island's ties to the US, which is also why this is the only team in the league with its official name in English. Then I realized there would've been no purple teams in this conference if I did, so I tried out this cool purple and orange color scheme. They have three jerseys and three pairs of pants for up to nine different uniform options for the Stars.

Feedback appreciated. Guatemala is next.

Today I start on the Central American teams, starting with Guatemala City's team. I decided to go with something more simple and timeless, as if this team has been around for decades. The blue they wear is taken from Guatemala's national flag.

Tormenta is next, C&C appreciated.

That was actually the first one I made, believe it or not.

La Tormenta, or Storm in English, play in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Their colors are taken from the city's flag, and the logo is a lightning bolt with two Ts attached to it. They wear yellow helmets so they don’t get mixed up with the Steelers.

Feedback welcome. Managua is next.

I'm not sure how obvious it is the gold triangles in the Tormenta logo are supposed to be a lightning bolt. If you could close the black space between them like on the pants, that might fix the problem. Other than that, another solid design.

GUARDABARRANCOS DE MANAGUA

And what is a guardabarranco, you ask? We English-speakers may know it better as the turquoise-browed motmot.

A fabulously-plumed bird found mostly in Central America and the Yucatán peninsula. It has a number of local names, depending on where you go. In Mexico it is called the pájaro reloj (clock bird), the torogoz in El Salvador, because of its call, and in Nicaragua, where it is considered a national symbol, where this team plays, it is known as the guardabarranco, or ravine guard.

The colors I chose were inspired by this bird. And the helmet is based on a prototype design the Dolphins almost used a long time ago. I’ll admit, I didn’t have much of an idea what I wanted to do with the Guardas, so I just mixed together a bunch of things that looked good to me.

Feedback appreciated. San Salvador is next.

Wild and weird! I love it, though. I would make the blue/green/blue stripes on the pants as thick as the ones on the shoulders because right now they look too thin.

Okay, I made them a bit thicker. Check them out.

I drew a lot of inspiration from the old USFL's Birmingham Vulcans/Americans, one of the nicest-looking teams that no longer exist. I named El Salvador's team based on Quezaltepeque, a volcano found just northwest of the city.

And that will take care of the Conferencia Colon. Onto the Conferencia Bolivar, where all the South American teams are sorted. C&C appreciated Bogota is next.

...And speaking of conferences, I made logos for the conferences themselves...

1ConferenceLogos.png.625a7dbb0bd12d646ca9be92e22ff538.png

Conferencia Colon, named after Christopher Columbus, has all the North American teams, and Conferenia Bolivar, named after Simon Bolivar, contains all the South American teams.
