Yeah at first glance, from a basketball standpoint, this trade doesn't seem to make much sense for the Thunder, BUT...

Another player goes west.  I'm not sure this is difference-making, though.

Given some of the social media happenings in recent hours, are we getting to the point at which something has to give; either the political ban or NBA and NFL threads?

Imagine what a monster team OKC would be if KD hadn't bitched out because he wanted a ring.

They'd still probably lose in the WCF to the Warriors.

Spoiler alert: I look forward to watching OKC lose to the Warriors in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals as the Warriors go on to defeat the Cavaliers in six games for the NBA title. There, now you know how the 2017-2018 season will end. The NBA, where predictability happens!

I hate to say it...but you're probably right.  At least I won't have to suffer the heartbreak of losing a 3-1 lead...

Has anyone made the Westeros Conference joke yet? I don't even think the NBA could allow the Cavs to play for the title on principle alone. Might be a west team with a better record that misses the playoffs. Lol

Warriors over Cavs in 5. Simple as that. As long as basically all of the Warriors' important players continue to take pay cuts to keep the core together, they'll be annoyingly good.

I am looking forward to the Celtics and Cave in the East finals tho. Will be interesting to see if LeBron is gonna mess with Kyrie.

Whomever is in from the East, Cleveland most likely, will win. The West looks like a guantlet and the Warriors won't be able to sweep tgeir way to the final. Golden State and Houston will be punished by the ZaZa/Harden rules that they exploited last year. Then they'll be physically beaten up in the playoffs but the Warriors depth wins the West.

I also can't see LeBron going to LA. With so many superteams in that conference,  why go there when you can control a much easier path to the Finals every year?

It would be hilarious if Lebron decided to sign with Boston.

Kyrie would be so :censored:ing pissed LOL.

Didn't he ask to get traded because he wanted out of Lebron's shadow?(as well as avoiding the dumpster fire Cavs will be again when LJ leaves....again)

Red Sox: 8    Celtics: 17    Bruins: 6    Patriots: 5

I could see LeBron jump to New York.  With a new rookie and solid role players it's almost falling into place for him. He'd be on a competitive team in a strong media market with strong basketball roots and a fan base starved for a championship.

I remember hearing something about LeBron may lean towards wherever his wife and/or family wants to live.  Which would make some sense, considering the first free agency choice was strictly for his championship pursuit  and business side (Miami), and his second choice was for him to go win for his hometown (return to Cleveland), and supposedly his wife wants to live in California.

When you get towards the end of your career and you're still chasing six titles do you intentionally make it harder?
