The guy who's getting older is also the guy spending upwards of $1 million on his body every year and the guy who's been better than anyone else at avoiding major injuries. That's why he isn't declining as fast as you'd think. Additionally, his skill and basketball IQ will keep him dominating for a while even as his athleticism decreases.

Basically the NBA equivalent to Tom Brady.

Red Sox: 8    Celtics: 17    Bruins: 6    Patriots: 5

King’s may have a totally normal sized crowd for them tonight as the arena has been completely locked down due to protests outside. It’s looking like they may have to cancel the game completely or we’re going to end up with a situation similar to when the Orioles played a home game with no crowd due to the Freddy Gray riots.

just checking in to let y’all know that the grizzlies lost a regulation nba game by 61 points. the hornets have a been a case study of pure lunacy this season.

Next level tanking. I don't think we get more ping pong balls for point differential though.

Yep. Curry MRI on Saturday

Recheck in three weeks; he may be out six total. Probably good news for the Warriors overall, except this is his third injury this season.

In you had guessed which pro sports league would experiment with microtransations first, I think we all would have chosen the NBA. And here we are!

While I did grow up in the Jordan era, the indestructibility of LeBron in THIS season is really, really amazing and deserves appreciation and respect.

Sure, he uses social media to pat himself on the back too much, but this is likely the season he plays all 82 at 37 minutes/night. That dude is seriously underpaid.

At the point Jordan is probably underrated for how far better he was than the rest of the league, including the 40 years that came before home. LeBron hasn't been proportionately as dominant, but he's been the best among an across-the-board better group of players than were in the 80s or 90s.

Jordan and James are 1-2 and I'm really not sure who's on top.

That would be the case if the switched eras as well, so it's not really a slight against Lebron.  If anything, I think Jordan being the best player in the league if he played now is less likely than LeBron being way ahead of the rest of the league in the 90's.  The way every team decides to defend LeBron was illegal when Jordan played.  Once you get past the hand checking and increased physicality (I mean, he's 6'8", 250) your choices are to play him one-on-one or double team him—an actual double team and not just having everyone help off of their man—and neither seems like a particularly good option.

They literally changed the rules of the game because of Wilt - it's fair to argue he's #1.

Everyone just writes guys like Wilt and Bill Russell off just because of how long ago they played. It's unfair. Like you said, Wilt made the league change rules. He truly revolutionized the game. I'm not sure that James has done the same, Jordan did to a certain extent. Then again, the greatest of all time is wildly subjective.

He had ~90 more 50-point games than Jordan did.  If part of the discussion is how much better Jordan was than everyone else at that time, then it's important to consider that same for everyone.

OK, Wilt played center, so if you want to talk about best pure player (meaning all skills), then sure, you're talking Jordan, Lebron, maybe a few other guys.  I have to say, my vote goes to Lebron.  I never saw Jordan live, but saw all of his Finals games, and am old enough to remember his entire career.  The eras were different, and he had better coaching, GMs, and players around him.  Not to take anything away, but I have seen Lebron live, and I think he does things that Jordan didn't do, just maybe doesn't have the same "killer instinct", and is doing it all by himself.  Watching the Miami team live, it seemed like it was literally Lebron and 4 jobbers out there.

Jordan was both the best offensive player AND the best defensive player in the league from 1987-88 until his first retirement (six seasons) and carried his team to three championships in a row in the process. Outside of that six season span he delivered his team to another threepeat as their best player and put up 37 points a game in 1986-87.

LeBron is just barely fit to carry around Jordan's jockstrap for him.

Jordan wasn't the best defender on his own team.  Granted, this would still put him as the second best in the league behind Pippen, but Pippen was 6'8", could defend any position, and might've been the best of his generation.  I know everybody wants to credit Jordan and Jordan alone for the Bulls two threepeats but the Bulls did win 55 games without him.

Epic takedown bro, but false. You may disagree with it, but my contribution was much more substantial.

On the 95-98 Bulls, this is true. Before his first retirement? Pippen may have been more versatile in terms of positions he could guard but Jordan's defense was higher quality. The only exception I'd possibly grant would be 1993, the very last year of that period.

Sorry, but anyone who says LeBron "can't hold Jordan's jock strap" is an automatic ignore. That's an absurd opinion in light of all evidence.

And if you're counting rings, James had no chance in 07, blew 11, watched his teammates quit in 14, watched his teammates go down one by one in 15, and was just outgunned in 17. Jordan never played with a team as overmatched as James has been in some of his Finals losses.

Jordan without Pippen and Rodman would have lost to the 96 Sonics the same way James lost to the 15 Warriors.
