In the 4 major sports leagues, can you name all the active teams that are NOT named for a city or a state/province (in other words don't have the city or state name in their title. There's more than you might think. I believe 8. Golden State and New England are obviously 2 of them. And washington and vegas (golden knights) are not on this list. Washington and vegas count as Washington DC and Las Vegas. And they don't have to actually play in that city, so New York Jets isn't one of them, still has New York in the name. Carlinas obviously are 2 states. And Brooklyn despite having 4 million people is a Borough not a City. (Having your own zip code doesn't make you a city. There are towns of 40,000 people that have multiple zip codes---and multiple Towns that share 1 zip code. that's just post office jurisdiction.) I still dont consider it a regional name however, since it describes a finite area that's a borough and the team using the name is the only one in its league playing in it. I was told in 1988 that the majority of fans in the state were offended that the Cardinals chose Phoenix as the "location" name, as opposed to "Arizona".
