Looks like at least 1 team will be shedding their choker image this year.

Or they're just preparing to choke in a more embarrassing fashion than we could have ever imagined.

Spoiler

Probably not though.

EDIT: Cubs have a run! The comeback is on!

Spoiler

But probably not.

Being superstitious, I cannot watch games live. But I briefly went to ESPN just to see the box score. Wow. Please Dodgers, please don't blow this. I saw Kersh is starting to break down very slightly in the fourth inning. Maybe just pull him early?

Otherwise, wow. I might finally get to see my team in the World Series. If they can just hang on a few more innings.

All the Cubs have to do is score at least 8 runs and win this game, and then win two more. Don't get too comfortable, Dodgers fans!

In one inning they got two hits and a home run. Didn't the A's famously blow an 11-0 lead? Look, I don't care how many runs the Dodgers might be up by (8, last I checked), it ain't over 'till it's over. And the Cubs came back from 3-1 last year. I don't care if that sounds stupid right now, until the Dodgers get that 27th out, no lead is safe.

Doesn't matter.  Cubs never were in this and Maddon's conceded.  Start all the seniors, Joe.  Not worth taking a bow over this frustrating season full of deadwind stretches of lifeless bats and bullpen collapses.  They had the magic last year.  All that happened this year was This Year, and there's issues that need to be handily addressed by a scrutinous baseball eye and a few crafty acquisitions.

I don't hate the Dodgers, but they also are not somebody I really care about.  I'd rather see the Astros win it all, but Yankees/Dodgers = tweet me when somebody wins.  I hope you all enjoy yourselves.

If the Cubs get a run every remaining inning, while allowing zero from LA, the Cubs still lose. I'll be ecstatic if the Cubs somehow come back, but I just don't see it happening.

Rip the Cubs, dodgers really took it to them. As a proud fan of several choker teams, it always does my heart good to see a team shed that label. I'm not really a huge dodgers fan (I'll probably hate them when Manny Machado signs for them after the '18 season) but I'm happy for them.

Oh btw, in case you guys didn't know, go Astros.

Here is a couple of things:

2017 Cubs season was a mild success. Failure because they didn't win a World championship. Didn't repeat. But a mild success. They'll be back in 2018.

Dodgers look like they will win their first National League pennant for first time in 29 years. That has to be something they should be proud of, but the goal for them is to win the World Series.

I won't mind a Yankees/Dodgers World Series.

I want championships!

It is pretty amazing that it took nearly 30 years for the Dodgers to return to the World Series.  Like the Cardinals, they rarely have seasons where they aren't competitive and don't seem to have a prolonged stretch where they've been dreadful.  I can't recall many losing seasons from them since 1988.

In many series, you could argue that a few big plays one way or the other would make the series go the other way. However, in this series, LA seems to have harkened their Kings mojo and have decisively won four of the five games. Even when the Cubs won, it was a tough game by the skin of their teeth. Cubs will be back, no doubt, but this was not the deep title defense they wanted for sure.

Congrats to the Dodgers for making the World Series, always nice to see a drought ended.

2 minor side notes.

- Is that a new Trophy? Why the :censored: do all these sports leagues get rid of that classic wood paneling? First the AFC/NFC trophies, now this?

- It annoys me that the League Champions hats don't actually say "League Champions" on the front anymore.

The Dodgers were by far the better team and you can't take anything away from them. I hope they win the World Series.

Incidentally, it looks like I'm taking a rare triple-L on watching sports on TV tonight: Cubs, Blackhawks, and Raiders all losing in one night!

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Well, I knew this day was going to come eventually. I especially knew it after the Iron Fist Full of Cash took over in 2012. I'm fine with it. I guess.

I always said, please lord let me see the Giants win just win one World Series before I have to see those dopes in blue win one. I got to see three. I can't really complain.

Last November showed me that there are FAR worse losses I could take than a Dodgers World Series.

And finally, my girlfriend of the last two years is an absolute DIE HARD, life long Dodgers fan. I'm really happy for her. I'd probably be a lot happier if she wasn't a die hard Pittsburgh Penguins fan, too (I know, where the hell did I meet this girl? The dog park).

Go AL. Preferably Houston, but it's gonna be the Yankees. If they lose the ONLY World Series I'll ever root for them in, they automatically and permanently go back behind the Red Sox on my most disliked teams list.

The Yankees have something magical going on.  I know that's bordering on superstitious, but it's nevertheless something I don't bet against.

The only reason I don't think it's in the bag is because they will have to beat Verlander or Kuechel.

It's the ghosts.

Really hoping the Dodgers can win tonight and sweep the series. Even one win is gonna let the Cubs back in, I know it. Dodgers just want to end it tonight. Here's hoping they can do it...

As for the ALCS, I think whoever wins today will win the series. Because now it's basically a best-of-3, and that makes Game 5 more akin to a Game 1. The winner of that game sets the momentum, I think.

I was hoping that the Cubs could've come back.  Would have gotten that monkey off our back.  Plus, they would have done it to Dave Roberts.

It's their second new trophy in two years.  They had a trophy that got passed around like the Stanley Cup, replaced it with some wonky version, and now this Backyard Baseball looking crap?

And they kept the name and have yet to actually acknowledge the change.

They better not be changing the American League trophy to the same thing with the pennant going the opposite direction.  Leage the Harridge Trophy alone!
