Hounds and Beacons.

I like Hounds because the gear alone would be worth it... 'Release the Hounds!'

I think there is a MLL team with the same concept from Carolina. But still, I think Hounds sounds great.

Hounds for CHA

Racers for BOS

Boston Beacons (rolls off the tongue easily, I trust you'd do an AWESOME job at a lighthouse logo)

Charlotte Hounds (VERY marketable, lends to a good identity)

1996 Update

Hey folks, I found in an old Sporting News from 1996 the two designs from the Charlotte USFL franchise Name the Team Contest.  These were the two designs that were under serious consideration.  Which do you think the USFL went with?

Hounds!

I love the Wheels' design too, but critics might say it looks like a literal car wreck...and that may not be a good sign for a new franchise.

Can't do Boston Whalers because there's a boat company that uses the same name. Here are my picks:

Atlanta Blaze

Boston Schooners

California Conquistadors

Charlotte Wheels

(Oh yeah, I'm back for the umpteenth time!)

USFL 1996 Update #2-- In October of 1996 the Boston expansion franchise announced that the first round of its Name the Team contest was complete.  The two finalists would be decided by the ownership and they worked in tandem with the USFL Central Offices to develop identities for both potential nicknames.  Here are the original designs for both the Boston Beacons and the Boston Schooners.  One of these two would go on to become the team's official logo.
