Sort of random, but I remember when I first started watching soccer, I got all pissed off because a guy went down on what was obviously a flop. And then he got up gushing blood from his head. So either he was fouled, or the dude bladed like an old-school pro wrestler. Either way, he had my respect.
DG_ThenNowForever
If the season started in June, the Sounders would be the best team of all team. Now unbeaten in six, with a big win at home today against NYCFC. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
Still MIGHTY
So since it wasn't touched on when it happened... Through two editions of El Trafico - Minutes 1-60: LAFC up 5-0; Minutes 61-90+: Galaxy up 6-0 Stupid. --- Also stupid, try-hard soccer fans being try-hard soccer fans. LAFC fans fighting Galaxy fans just for being Galaxy fans. Galaxy fans defacing and ripping out 80 seats in LAFC's stadium. Cool stuff, everybody. From the LA Times: Quote Six fans were arrested and 14 ejected from Banc of California Stadium during Thursday’s MLS soccer game between the Galaxy and the Los Angeles Football Club. LAFC said it had doubled security at its stadium for the game, the second in the expansion team’s intracity rivalry with the Galaxy but first in its new Exposition Park home. --- Supporters of both teams also clashed inside the stadium while uniformed officers from the LAPD and California Highway Patrol broke up fights as fans left the game. In addition, 78 seats in an upper-deck corner section reserved for Galaxy fans were either damaged or ripped out, LAFC said. DG_ThenNowForever
That's more an LA thing than an Ultra thing, right? 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
FiddySicks
Galaxy fans in general are trash, and LAFC fans are trying their hardest to be just as bad. So yeah, you’re right. It’s definitely an LA thing. But I will say, the San Jose Ultras are garbage, too. It may may just be a California thing, unfortunately. I don't get the people who want to fight over their sports team. Sports are entertainment. Getting into a fight over which team you prefer to win a game is asinine. It's especially stupid when the modern LA rivalry has existed for less than 365 days. Nobody has crushed the other team's hopes and dreams or anything. The entire doofus class of soccer fan (and sports fan in general) that thinks hooliganism is good fandom really needs to go away. 17 minutes ago, Bucfan56 said: Galaxy fans in general are trash, and LAFC fans are trying their hardest to be just as bad. Haven't there been issues with Orlando as well? And I vaguely remember seats being ripped out at at least one of the New York stadiums. Violence and vandalism over sports is a level of idiocy I just can't begin to comprehend.
FiddySicks
I think part of it is that soccer is pretty well known worldwide for hooliganism, and Americans are pretty much famous for never letting an opportunity to act like a belligerent fool pass them by. It kinda fits our general nature almost too well. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Sport
How does LAFC even have hooligans already? You just decided to be a fan of that team like a few months ago. It's not like you were raised an LAFC fan and it's ingrained in your family's DNA. Even then it would be unacceptable to behave like that, but at least it would make a little more sense. gosioux76
Quite a remarkable turn of events here in Portland. Star striker Fanendo Adi, who, in just four years, became one of the Timbers' most prolific scorers across all eras, requested a trade, having found himself buried on the bench behind Samuel Armenteros. The club let news leak that they'd made a deal to send Adi elsewhere just before Saturday night's game. Then coach Gio Savarese brings him off the bench Saturday night, tied 2-2 with Houston, and Adi nets the game winner at the 80th minute. Letting the world know of the deal before hand allowed the club and fans properly send off a player they've come to regard as a club legend. It was a remarkable site. Then this morning the club announced that Adi is joining FC Cincinnati as that club's first designated player. https://www.timbers.com/post/2018/07/30/portland-timbers-acquire-excess-850000-allocation-money-future-considerations-fc

Digby
I didn't bother with the All-Star Game, though I rarely do, so. This idea is coming up, and it seems interesting, like there would at least be something to play for. But I worry it would be like a USMNT/Mexico junior varsity match, with a couple South American guys running circles round everybody else. I know they're going to keep on trying to figure this out, but I just don't think there's really a compelling reason for an ASG as long as international play exists.
