SHR coming in as early season favorites for a title run.

I agree, even though being a hardcore AD fan, Aric should had won that Daytona 500. If Kevin dominates like he has been doing, he could match MTJ's win total from last year.

Monster Energy announces that they have extended sponsorship to the Cup Series through at least 2019.

That's not good as Monster signed up for two years with an option for two additional years, but cut out a year only 20% into year 2.

The inevitable has happened. The Mustang is now in the bigs to compete with the Camaro.

Ford has the Mustang in the Australian series instead of the Falcon.

Love hearing Kenseth is back with Roush! Any chance they move Stenhouse to the 6 and let the Kenseth/Bayne rotation have the 17?

Doubtful mid season.  They brought back Mark Martin for the announcement too, so i doubt you'd see a swap.

On a related note, why is Bayne being dropped to part timer?

Best I can tell is they aren’t happy with his results. Currently 26th in the standings and has a career average finish of 23rd with only 16 top tens and a fluke win. I saw on another site (can’t recall where) that Roush might be trying to diagnose why the team isn’t performing well, if there’s something wrong with the driver (Bayne), the crew chief, or the equipment and they feel with a veteran like Matt they’ll be able to get a better diagnosis of what needs improved

More big news today as NASCAR announced it is purchasing the ARCA Racing Series, a midwest-based series that competes on everything from Daytona to Nashville Fairgrounds to dirt.

It's NASCAR, they'll find a way to f¥€k this up as they do with most purchases.

(Reuters) - The majority owners of NASCAR, the company which operates the namesake U.S. car-racing series and other motorsport events, are exploring options that include the sale of a majority stake, people familiar with the matter said on Monday.

The move comes as NASCAR grapples with an aging fan base, stricter safety rules and a competitive media landscape that have weighed on its popularity and made it less attractive to advertisers and sponsors.

The France family, which controls NASCAR, is working with investment bank Goldman Sachs Group Inc (GS.N) to identify a potential deal for the company, three sources said, cautioning that the deliberations are at exploratory stage and no agreement of any kind is certain.
