Who gives a single :censored: if a player is patriotic or unpatriotic? Tom Brady could be fighting on the frontlines for ISIS during the off season and Bostonians would still be in his corner as long as he was still hucking TD passes to Gronk in the playoffs. Why this league keeps dragging this dead issue out of the garbage bin is beyond me. I can't believe it, but I genuinely think Colin Kaepernick may have legitimately caused the initial fissure that Rodger keeps cracking open into giant gaping holes that'll eventually trash the entire league (At least as a countrywide juggernaut). :censored: the NFL, and their psuedo-patriotism trash. BBTV
I don't think that's why other countries don't play American football. Geography and timing has a lot to do with how things catch on between cultures. Another reason is that it's impossible to explain the rules to anyone and then let them watch a game without asking a billion questions about why somethings allowed if one thing is happening, but not if another thing is happening, unless a guy stayed within 5 yards and another was lined up a yard behind the line of scrimmage and then...." Ever watch NFL with a Bhutanese guy? The look on their face when the gorilla comes out is priceless. Doesn't all of this ultimately contribute to why people outside of the states think football is a trash sport? The confusion is quite understandable... in Bhutanese Rules, the gorilla is a two-way player. He hardly ever leaves the field.

Howie Roseman kinda is football's Hinkie, how he dumped high salaries and acquired assets via a series of trades in order to keep trading up in the draft until butt effing the Browns to acquire Carson Wentz. The way Howie built the Eagles is kinda the football equivalent of "the process", since there's no real need for more than one down year or "tank" in football. Basically, if you don't have a franchise QB, acquire and hold assets so that once you identify one, you can either sign him or trade up to get him. It's the single most important thing. Tracy Jordan
Quote Depositions given by Mr. Jones and other owners indicate that Mr. Trump’s criticism pushed the league to shift its stance. League executives publicly repeated the NFL’s aim to stay out of politics. But privately, they made political calculations in response to Mr. Trump’s repeated hammering of the issue. The controversy over anthem protests had already been raging for a year when Mr. Trump—at a stump speech in Alabama last September—said that if a hypothetical player knelt during the national anthem, his team’s owner should “get that son of a bitch off the field now.” On Twitter , he later encouraged owners to fire those players and suggested a boycott. “I was totally supportive of [the players] until Trump made his statement,” Stephen Ross, the Miami Dolphins’ owner and creator of programs advocating for social justice, said in his deposition. Noting that owners’ conversations with Mr. Trump were relayed during a league meeting, he said: “I thought he changed the dialogue.” Mr. Trump’s stance is a key point in Mr. Kaepernick’s grievance, which was filed last October. It alleges that the league and its 32 teams colluded to keep him unsigned last season because of his political views. https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-trumps-pressure-influenced-the-nfl-to-change-its-anthem-rules-1527685321 Seems like Kaepernick's case got a little stronger today.
