That Niners team was absolutely abysmal last year, and they were still basically abysmal after he arrived. The difference was that they went from having a bell hop under center to a guy who legitimately has a TON of talent and upside. Nothing else really changed. He was basically running for his life in all of the games he won and still found a way to make not only good throws, but damn smart ones as well. I honestly don't think there's been a time where I've been more impressed with a guy's pure ability than I was with him late last season. If the Niners are smart (they probably aren't) and surround him with some talent, he could truly be excellent. Not going to be crippling since the cap isn't going to decrease come 2021-22. The Thursday Night FOX contract adds at least $8M to the cap next year (50/50 football related revenue split, so $500M divided by 64 is about $8M/team for the cap). It's $90M for the three years, but the days of signing one UFA to a colossal, multi-year contract is kinda over. They can save money in year two of the contract since they are paying FB Kyle Juszczyk $5M/season but the guarantees and this year. That is a bad contract. Essentially, Lynch and Shanahan are tied with Jimmy G., as both have five years remaining on their deals.

They let their QB coach sign with the Vikings as OC, when he would have been the logical replacement to Reich, who would have gone nowhere had McDaniels not screwed the Colts. The good thing is, Reich was more of a "manager" type guy, who helped with the game planning, but Big Balls Doug is the full-time play caller, so no loss there. Still, losing your two top offensive assistants sucks. ozzyman314
Because McDaniels was trash in Denver. And The Colts are in an even worse position then they were. Reich has a history with The Colts, he’ll get along great with them. Just look at what happened to The Eagles with Pederson. Red Sox: 8 Celtics: 17 Bruins: 6 Patriots: 5 Phantom Merch Collector. Reich is a "collaborator" (that's not my term, that's how the team defined the OC role.) Pederson runs the offensive practices, with Reich taking over only when doug attempts to get close to the defense before Jim Schwartz yells at him to get off his turf. I mean, you might be right - he could be a great coach. The players love him. Just saying there's nothing else solid to go by. He's a great OC sure, but a lot of that is because he's spent nearly his whole career with The Patriots. He knows that "system" almost (if not as much) as Belichick. Whereas with Denver & St. Louis, he clearly struggled. Reich at least has some experience with the team. Colts need a complete rebuild, and I think between the 2, Reich is the better choice. Managing a team and dealing with a front office are two different stories, but play calling and managing QBs he's got covered. Here’s hoping Reich surpasses him too. "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed." RockyTopper
Decided to watch some reaction compilations from the big moments of the playoffs, and when one clip showed a young Saints fan (about 13-ish years old? I think) screaming after the Minneapolis Miracle I thought, "You're OK kid, your team won the SB just a couple years ago" Until I realized "a couple years ago" is actually 8, that SB XLIV happened a little more than a month into this decade, that this decade will be over in 1 year 11 months, and that kid was probably 5-ish years old in 2010 and might not even remember that game clearly if at all. I'm in my early 20s. This is just gonna get more and more common with longer stretches of time for me as time goes on, isn't it? ☦ICXC NIKA
