Not neccesarily a bad thing and not WFL level stuff thankfully, their ticketgate scandal single handidly ruined all their credibility and it was pretty much over for them. They(the police) can go ahead and pull me over for free tickets next week if they please.. 🙂

Not a scandal, maybe, but this is really scummy stuff.

They must be panicking over their attendance - remember when they announce it, that they’re including people who didn’t attend the game, and had no interest in attending the game.  So whatever number they announce, we know that’s not it.

This irrelevant league really moves the meters around here, its thread grows pages by the day and is full of mod edits. But enough about the NHL! wocka wocka

Speaking of other sports, not very much competition this weekend. Maybe the AAF can get into the 1.0's LOL

NBA: All Star Game (lame)

NCAA:Kentucky-Tennessee considered the marquee matchup this weekend

NHL: a couple games i think, i know nothing about hockey(maybe the experts could help here?)

Pretty dry weekend, alot of eyes on AAF.

Projected Weather for the games(at kickoff):

Birmingham: 58/Partly Cloudy(no rain)

Memphis: 44/Cloudy(no rain)

San Antonio: 76/Partly Cloudy(dome game, but travel to game will be immaculate)

San Diego:56/Rain not heavy though

Are the gods smiling on the league this weekend?

Lets Find Out!!

San Antonio has tickets for military again this week.  While there were 10,000 available, I know at least 4,500 would be available for the remaining four games.

I wonder how many they've set aside for San Diego.  I'll edit if I find a number.

EDIT- Haven't seen a  specific number donated, but on Thursday, they did run a BOGO!!!

EDIT 2- No noted number given, but the Fleet did give tickets to the Navy Seal Foundation this week.

That answer is already a very solid, but not resounding, "NO!"

Otherwise, Apollo would have smiled on Orlando last weekend.  Instead, they were the first to announce and barely got 20K!

general-view-of-legion-field-during-an-aWhy does this look more than the 17K they announced SMH, it surely didnt look this good on TV with all those oblique XFL style shots they were presenting, this is not embarrasing by any means.

Orlando is one of the defunt league football graveyards I was talking about earlier this week, they have the right to be somewhat guarded(i can't think of a better word right now LOL) with the Blazers,Renegades,Thunder and Rage am i missing anyone here...Attendance should improve as the weather gets better and they are certain to be Winners

mkg74,

I am an adult male in my early-40's who is addicted to football, but realize that the sport is not good for youth.  While it is not as addictive as tobacco, it is slightly less damaging, yet the research is not fully known.  We don't need more cigarette brands and we don't need more football leagues.

While there might be a few dozen of players who were cut from NFL rosters still thinking that were good enough and thousands of others who from HS, JC< or even NCAA/NAIA football who claim that "politics" kept them from going pro yet it was really their lack of talent, there is not a need for this league, the XFL, the Americal Patriot League, even Brian Woods' Spring League mess which was formerly the FXFL.  There are always people who will prey on the poor for football and those poor folks will think of it as a chance to get rich, but the price they pay success or not is often debilitating.  Our recently revived, CTE thread lays most of it out medically, but financially, new leagues are always underfunded because folks really don't want to pay even $5 to see very spare football.

Plus the AAF has not really met any of their promises regarding gameplay or technology.  The app isn't as functional as they promised. All games were to be streamed until on the day of the CBSSN games they say those games are not available on the app, so some YouTube steam is set up.  I could go on, B.

You could include the Orlando Panthers (1966 - 1969) of the Continental Football League. They compiled an overall record of 47 and 11 during their four seasons (43 - 9 regular season; 4 - 2 playoffs), appeared in three straight Continental Football League championships, and captured the league title twice.

The AAF is holding their championship game at another defunct football leagues graveyard, Las Vegas.  But unlike other leagues, Vegas' next pro football team will be in Sin City for at least 20 years.

You can remain here since the NHL thread seems to be full of Blue Ribbon committees.

Nationally, NBC has a doubleheader on Sunday and NBCSN has regional action in the afternoon. That's it.

Game wise, I'm looking forward to the Orlando-San Antonio game. It's the only game between 1-0 teams and both were impressive in the opening weekend. Can the Commander defense stifle the Apollo offense? Does the Ol' Ball Coach have any more tricks up his sleeve?

In terms of viability, the Atlanta-San Diego game is important. It's the first pro football game in San Diego since the Chargers bolted out of town (pun intended). How many fans will be there and how will the fans react? That, I think, is more telling.

Oh, we still are very skeptical of this league. Along with those four you mentioned, we also had the Tuskers of the UFL for a year. Most people don't think it'll be around in two years, just from previous experience. If it becomes evident that the AAF is here to stay, attendance will go up.

Also, playing at UCF isn't helping matters. While it's nice for me, because I live 10-15 minutes away, the university is 30 minutes out of town without traffic. With rush hour traffic, it's around an hour out. Some people won't be willing to go because of that, especially if they're on the west side of the city.

It's definitely starting to seem like someone on this thread is getting paid in relation to this league.

There already is a member of the board who is an employee of the Atlanta Legends but s/he has disclosed her/his relationship months ago. If there's a second, so be it. That's two on a sinking ship in the world of Sports Management majors.

So that bum who played collegiately at Nevada-Reno apparently wanted $20 miilion to play in the AAF. Did this guy like roll out of bed yesterday after being under a rock for 4 or 5 years still thinking the USFL was around?? SMDH

Well the end result of their little meeting had an obvious outcome.

Can we put your time posting here to rest?
