The only thing that matters is that we get another year without a Canadian team winning the Cup. It would have been especially dreadful if a team from a place that isn't even real won it.

Thank you, Vegas.

Just :censored: off!

The owners wanted Las Vegas as much as he did. There's a Jim "Players Are Cattle" Devellano interview from like 2005 where he's furiously beating off to the prospect of Las Vegas expansion.

They wanted Las Vegas, sure, but did the other owners want Las Vegas to be this good right off the bat? That I'm not so sure about.

How are the Knights getting a "free Cup"? They're earning their success on the ice like everyone else.

I meant the whole "getting more favourable expansion terms than any other team" deal. Sure, they went out and won their games like any other team but you can't deny they got a much bigger boost than any previous team.

Plus, they have the built-in advantage of visiting teams going on benders before every home game. Apparently, you can train bad behavior out of dogs better than you can hockey players. Should I bother with a league whose players are less than dogs?

There's a big difference between "favorable expansion terms" and "free Cup," though. And let's be real, the expansion terms weren't an issue until Vegas started winning a lot and frustrating fans of other teams. They were expected to suck this year like every other expansion team ever, favorable terms or not.

Vegas was supposed to be an absolute laughingstock.

Not as bad as the expansion Caps or Sharks were, but horrible; like the expansion Blue Jackets were for example.

I watched a good chunk of the game today and I was surprised how into the game I was. I used to be such a huge hockey (specifically Sabres) fan, but the league's repeated rule changes, lockouts, and market manipulation really beat the fun out of it for me.

I laughed at the Golden Knights like everyone else, but I'm also a bit of the mind that the curiosity factor of them being in the Cup final may be good to attract casual viewers. I would have been the same level of in with Winnipeg or Vegas, but I'm definitely in for the clinching game this year.

I wish this had been Seattle doing this so it would just be merely annoying, rather than this everything-wrong-with-America cesspool.

No sir. You don’t get to move the goal posts because you don’t like the city it happened in. I’d expect nothing less than scorched earth from you if this were the Metropolitans. I’d feel cheated to be honest lol.

In any event I'm speaking hypothetically. Obviously it's not as simple as I put it, but that's the way it comes off to someone who looks into it, especially in hindsight without the context of "they're gonna suck" headlines written by hockey's "experts" of the time. If I'm an owner who paid more than $500M for a struggling dumpster fire of a team, I'm looking at the Knights and seeing what I could've gotten for as much/less money. Suddenly my team doesn't look quite so valuable; and that's why I think if there's anything that'll make the owners come for Bettman's head, it'll be the sudden devaluing of all their miserable franchises.

I've moved nothing. I've been clear since this saga began and again with the Raiders that I really don't like Las Vegas. I hate overpopulating deserts. It's tacky and a waste.

Jesus man. It’s not that bad here.

Yeah it kinda is. I lived in Phoenix for three years and the only saving grace is that it wasn’t Vegas.

Las Vegas is a monument to man's hubris. The worst monument. It shouldn't exist. You shouldn't be able to have air conditioning in 120 degree heat.

I liked Fools Rush In though.
