I honestly didn't think the Knights would make it past the first round, but they just played damn near a perfect four games of hockey.

If the idea of facing this team doesn't worry you, as a fan of one of the other 14 teams left (but especially the rest of the West), you are a fool.

Thunder Bay Lynx - International Hockey Association (2 seasons, 2017-18, 2019-20, 2018 Xtreme Cup Champions)Houston Armadillos - Major League Hockey (2 seasons, 2016-18) | Minnesota Muskies - North American Basketball Association (1 season, 2017-2018) | Louisville Thoroughbreds - United League of Baseball (1 season, 2017, 2017 United Cup Champions) | Las Vegas Thunderbirds - International Basketball League (1 season, 2016-17, 2017 Champions)

Playoffs were always the true test for The Knights.

Were they going to be the team that plays a great regular season, only to crumble in the playoffs?

Or would they prove to be legit and actually show up in the playoffs.

It’s definitely the latter.

Predators/Knights should be a good series.

Sharks will beat the Golden Knights and then be hated for ruining the Vegas fun.

Lol, come on now. The Sharks are gonna get absolutely killed. This has been my complete nightmare scenario since rumors of Vegas getting a team surfaced, and I’m gonna have to watch it happen in year goddamn one. It’s the most Sharks thing possible, because they’ve run out of ways to crush their fans so now they have to completely invent new ones from thin air. I mean this is seriously the ONLY scenario where the words “LA Kings swept in the first round.” don’t make me unbelievably happy, but rather kind of annoyed.

:censored: Vegas. And their bull :censored: little hockey team.

/rant over. But you know I’m right.

I knew we weren't going to sweep, but winning a third straight overtime game, especially with that crowd, would've been epic.

Also, Vegas running through the NHL this easily is a really bad look for the league.

I'm not really hopeful that we'll win the series; I've almost come to accept the first round elimination and have begun to prefer it over a second round elimination to Pittsburgh.  I'm more just relieved that we won't be swept in OT in all four games, because at this point there's nothing to suggest that every game won't go to OT.

I've gotta say it's been pretty crazy what's been happening with Vegas this year.  Obviously a lot of it has to do with how generous of an expansion process that they had.  Most likely due to the NHL needing the Vegas experiment to work in their favor. How often has it been that a first-year expansion team has had so much success??  Let's look at the most recent expansion teams across the 4 leagues:

MLB: 1998 - Tampa Bay Devil Rays (63-99, Last in AL East); Arizona Diamondbacks (65-97, Last in NL West)

NBA: 2004 - Charlotte Bobcats (18-64, 4th place in Southeast Division)

NFL: 2002 - Houston Texans (4-12, Last in AFC South)

NHL: 2000 - Minnesota Wild (25-39-13-5, Last in Northwest Division); Columbus Blue Jackets (28-39-9-6, Last in Central Division)

One could argue that after gaining their footing, the expansion Jaguars and Panthers almost made history in only their second year of existence by both being in their respective conference finals.  Imagine if Super Bowl XXXI were two second-year teams!!  I always like to see expansion teams do well early on.  It's fun to see new teams with new markets and new logos and new everything compete against the established norms.  This run is insane.  Imagine if an expansion side made it to the Stanley Cup Final.  That hasn't happened since what, 1967 when it was literally guaranteed due to how stupid the conference alignment was after that 6-team expansion? It's a crazy run.

I actually do not prefer to see expansion teams do well.  I like to see franchises and fanbases pay some dues.  Maybe not as many dues as T-Wolves and Wild fans, but I do want to see a couple of lean years.

When the Avalanche won it all that bothered me...it was an established franchise (as currently recognized) but seeing fans get a team and then have them win immediately was unsatisfying (not to mention the fans in Quebec watching it).  If Vegas wins, that would bother me even more.  Same instant gratification for the fans and and insta-champ franchise. There's something very artificial about that...the ship's already sailed.  It's bad enough they made the playoffs in year one, much less won their division.  But winning the cup would really be icing on the cake.

But hey, here's an idea: Let the Wild move to Seattle.  In a few years, expand to Minnesota and give them the Vegas treatment for the expansion draft.  Minnesota can have a better name and maybe even break this NHL mediocrity streak dating back to 1967.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

The sad thing is that my wife has a friend who moved to Vegas barely a year ago and has already become a completely insufferable Knight homer.

Of course, I’d love to see her try to explain the difference between icing and the forecheck. I’m betting that answer would be Miss Teen South Carolina level.

I predicted the Knights would lose in the conference finals to Nashville but the Pred's uninspired performance in game 3 has made me change my mind.  I don't know if there will be a parade on the Vegas Strip but I can't see them not posing with the Clarence Campbell Bowl in May.  A scenario that is still beyond ludicrous for an expansion team <_<

As far as the immediate success for The Knights, I'll admit I'm a bit mixed on it.

The team had to do well or it'd be another failure like Atlanta & Arizona. Most people in Vegas already had their own team and weren't going to give a :censored: about the Knights unless they were actually good.

Though I do understand how annoying it is for an expansion team in its first season to make the Conference or possibly even the Stanley Cup Finals.
