Rite of Spring 2018-“What happens in the playoffs stays in the playoffs”

This postseason is a complete lose-lose for Caps fans.  Either we lose in the first round after already taking the lead in every one of the games in the series so far, or we somehow show some resiliency and some fight and some mental fortitude to overcome Games 1 & 2 only to run into the Caps-postseason buzzsaw that is the Pittsburgh Penguins in Round 2.

No matter how hard Washington tries...they CAN'T stay away from those damn Penguins. It's clear the NHL hates Washington.

I don’t think the NHL actually hates the Caps (I’m pretty sure you were being sarcastic but I’m going to act like you weren’t because this is a great platform for one of my complaints against the league). I think the NHL designed a playoff system that gave them as many divisional matchups as possible during the playoffs, and it juuuuust so happens that Caps-Pens is usually one of them. With Pittsburgh winning. Every. Single. Time.

WAS did avoid PIT in 2015 thanks to the Rangers, but I remember that was seen as a letdown because we were denied Rangers/Islanders one last time at Nassau.

For all the talk about WAS/PIT, we forget how many times Caps/Rangers happened (6 times in 9 years!)

Although because the Caps and Rangers split those series (3-3), maybe that's why WSH/NYR isn't as viewed by Caps fans as OH NO NOT AGAIN

Hit the nail on the head.

Also the reason we don’t think about the Caps-Rangers series happening so often is because they were essentially random iirc. They just happened to match up with each other. These Caps-Pens series feel very calculated and deliberate by the league.

Well Leafs...you've proven you're not as outmatched by this Bruins team as many thought you would be. You can hang. It'll be an uphill battle but....

The Bruins and/or Boston definitely do not need another championship. Go Leafs!

C'mon guys, It's been 14 WHOLE MONTHS since the last championship parade in Boston. I think we're long overdue.

Wild-Jets got ugly in a hurry. There was just nothing there without Parise and Suter. Glad this one will be a gentleman's sweep so that the fans can celebrate at the arena.

The Jets have slayed the Wild. Hopefully the Perds can finish off Colorado tonight and get a nice Nashville-Winnipeg series underway.

I want the Avs to drag this out and wear them down. Probably won't, though; their prayers lie with the dang Hamburglar.

For once, this playoff exit isn't on Boudreau. Can't blame him this year.

We blame him for choking with stacked teams. He didn't exactly have a full deck to work with.

Just realized Colorado’s goalie is that Hamburglar dude that was really good for like a half of a season in Ottawa. Always wondered what happened to him.

How the :censored: is that a goal?  Terrible break for the Avs.

The Prince of Wokeness gets caught out of position, the Avs score on a 2-on-1, and the Perds have their hams utterly burgled.

lol, turns out Subban was responsible for the game-tying goal, too, he lost his man because he tried to get blown up on an open-ice hit without anyone remotely close enough to make contact with him so he just wound up lying on the ice face-down like a drunk while the Avs scored. What a schmuck.

So who chokes now?

Predators or Penguins?

C'mon we gotta have at least 1 upset in the first round!
