Should be a great series between a team that had to build its entire organization from scratch and the Golden Knights

It really is kinda crazy. The worst case scenario from the last round of expansions and one of the biggest disasters I can possibly think of expansion wise, vs the overcorrection to that very disaster. And the correction is probably going to absolutely curbstomp the Jets like they did the Sharts and Queens. It’s one of the most OITGDNHLiest scenarios possible. And it’s happening in YEAR ONE!

What a g-damn :censored:show this league is.

I have high hopes for Winnipeg here against Vegas because of two HUGE factors: Home ice advantage and the Jets on the road.

The Jets have the best home record in the NHL this season. There is no team that can really handle the Winnipeg Whiteout at all... even Vegas. The Golden Knights only won once, and that was at Vegas with the other two games being in Winnipeg and they were a blowout win for the Jets and a shootout win for the Golden Knights.

Then, you get to the road success for the Jets so far. They just three games in Nashville, who won the President's Trophy mind you, by a combined score of 15-4. That has to be on the mind of Vegas now.

Nashville just won two out of three up there simply by running a NZT like it's 2003 again, which, in Winnipeg, it actually could be.

The Jets, despite superficial resemblances to the Kings teams that blasted the puck in and steamrolled everyone on their way to the puck, seem much more comfortable when they can carry the puck in and set up from there. Getting walled off at the blue line frustrated them a lot more than I imagined it would, like, why weren't Byfuglien and Lowry, the largest Jets, simply not eating the other players? If Vegas shells on them, which is likely, they may just stage a walkout, I dunno.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

I'd love to see the Jets in the SCF just due to how screwed over that fanbase initially was due to the obsession with the South and how that failure ultimately got them a second chance at a team. It'd be the best F-You to Bettman that one of the failed experiment teams that retreated back to Canada wins the cup.  the Boo's will be deafening.

In the same breath, Vegas going all the way is the best OITGDNHL moment that could ever be conceived.  An expansion team, in LAS FREAKEN VEGAS, wins the Stanley Cup.  Especially with the clownshow that was the beginning of the franchise's existence, it's such a ridiculous notion of where things were a year ago.

Then there's the Caps who I wouldn't mind seeing win just because it's been so damn long for that team that has always seemed to be really good but couldn't get past the Penguins for some odd reason.  This could finally be their year as well!

Lightning I could give or take.

Go Jets?

Guess I'll do personal preferences, too.

1. Jets

2. Knights (tie)

2. Capitals (tie)

-POWERGAP-

4. Lightning, who are going to win the Cup because my life is a cruel joke

We're the heel of the remaining playoff teams.

I love this. Never thought I'd see the day.

You aren’t emphasizing the gap between nuclear holocaust and Vegas winning the cup nearly well enough.

The Caps are mega-underdogs in this series. That will play into their favor. This is a team led by a coach who both have a huge chip on their shoulders, just slayed their Penguin-looking dragon, and have nobody believing in them.

That said, Lightning in 6.

Followed by Jets in 7 and then Jets in 6.

Since everyone is doing their preferred Cup winners power rankings, I’ll also join in.

1. Capitals

2. Jets

T-3. Lightning

T-3. Vegas
