I’m pretty much totally convinced that KD is gonna lead the the Warriors to a three-peat next rar and then immediately bail for the Lakers. Is it weird that I’m kind of ok with that?

DG and me don’t always see eye-to-eye on basketball, but he’s absolutely right about one thing. The NBA kinda needs the Lakers I be good/competitive/interesting.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely HATE the Lakers as a franchise because they’re my life-rivals as a Northern Californian. But I respect what they represent. The idea of Lebron vs the Dubs continuing, but now it’s with our absolute BIGGEST rivals (screw OKC, SAS, Houston, Cleveland, ect. They’re irrelevant in this sense)? Dude, I’ll take the :censored: outta that.

It’s REALLY easy for people to hate on the NBA right now. I don’t care. This is EASILY the most interested I’ve ever been with the NBA. And that’s saying something because it was at the very bottom rung for me as little as a decade ago. It’s probably my favorite sport as of now (this always changes with me), and I’m stunned because I never expected that to happen.

ALSO. WHY HAVE TOU FORSAKEN US, MCGOAT?!?! JaVale to the Lakers. lol. This year is gonna be so stupid and SO FUN.

I would've gone with Laguna Beach, personally, but whatever.

LeBron James in Los Angeles makes him just another Laker.  In Cleveland he was a demigod, in Los Angeles he's at best another Shaquille O'Neal.

I'm waiting to see whether or not the NBA redoes the structure of the playoffs for next season(and forcibly strips TNT of rights and gives them for a penance to ESPN).

Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. Sounds like something from a Rocky & Bullwinkle story arc.

Is it wrong of me, as a Lakers fan, to absolutely hate this signing? Though I admittedly lost most of my interest in the NBA over recent years, I was finally starting to regain a bit of it watching the past season with Kuzma, Zo, Ingram, Randle, and Hart and I was hoping to see the young core develope organically, now it’s likely they’ll get shipped as soon as LeBron needs a scapegoat. Likely not the most popular take, but I just need it off my chest.

Meh, I don't know about that. LA is a tad bit overrated IMO. I have absolutely no bias whatsoever saying that as a born and raised Northern Californian, or anything.

So, when we look back at Dan Gilbert, what are we going to think of first? Is he going to be seen as the sports owner who broke a half-century title drought for the city of Cleveland, or is he going to primarily be seen as the owner who had probably the second greatest player in the history of the game, and who grew up right next door, and still found a way to run him off TWICE?

When you really think about it, that’s AMAZING.

To me Dan Gilbert always looks hung over. Anyways I give all the credit to LeBron. If he didn't exist, the city of Cleveland would still be looking for its first title in 50 years and the Cavs would likely never been any good from 2007 until now.

There are maybe two reasons anybody will remember Dan Gilbert. One is that he happened to own the Cavaliers at the same time that basketball god LeBron James existed. The main thing people will remember is when he wrote an angry rant in comic sans after the Decision.

Much like Jerry Reinsdorf, there can be no doubt that Dan Gilbert was one of the NBA's very best at writing checks to elite players who were already there when he bought the team.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
