FiddySicks
If I’m the Raptors, I napalm the entire thing and just stick to hockey and maybe a little baseball here and there. Seriously, the Raptors should be downright ashamed. San Jose Sharks of the NBA. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Seadragon76
Am I the only one who thinks this run is pretty much on borrowed time for Cleveland? Everyone knows that LeBron has another decision (or if ESPN got their way, The Decision II: LeBron Boogaloo) to make the moment Cleveland gets knocked out. They might as enjoy this because the next time LeBron shows up in Cleveland, it'll be in another team's jersey or as a retired man.
Around the Horn
8 years ago to the day, the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Boston Bruins in the same building also down 3-0. They would end up winning that series. I don't expect the Sixers to be able to pull this off 3 more times but if they do that's an interesting coincidence. EDIT: It just so happens that the Flyers also beat their first round opponent 4-1, losing game 2, which is a really interesting coincidence. BBTV
I didn’t see the sixers game because of the bull crap start time, and I’m not sure how it looked on TV, but news was saying the arena wasn’t filled until a few mins into the second quarter. I get they want to have multiple games on the same night, but maybe they could stagger them better or just come up with some other option because people were paying at minimum $150 (which is how much I paid for game 5 of round 1 for seats three rows from the top behind the net) and not able to see the start of it, let alone relax a little bit. It’s like they hate their customers or something. I just hope game 7 is at a normal time. Digby
The Boston Globe explained all the tipoff wackiness a few days back: https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/celtics/2018/05/03/what-deal-with-celtics-weird-tipoff-times/UYuj6fUoq4wVQ95mKRXT6L/story.html I get it, but I don't agree with it. If we have to bunch the East and West games on the same days respectively, just tip off one at 7:00. They want to stagger them enough so that the superfans can watch both games in full, but you can't watch both games in full if you're not home from work in time for the first quarter of the early game. Biggest bandwagon fans in the NBA. Approximately 0. This is a really bad take. The Cavs were the third-worst team in the NBA in both 2011/12 and 2012/13, but attendance never dropped below 22nd in the league. Each year, Cleveland outdrew three teams that made the playoffs. Did attendance drop? Absolutely. Attendance is going to drop in pretty much ever non-major city when a team goes from a championship contender to one of the worst in the league overnight. If you want to talk about the biggest bandwagon fans in the NBA, I'd suggest trying Indiana. The Pacers are consistently a bottom-10 team in attendance during the regular season, yet all of a sudden when the playoffs come around, it's suddenly a hot ticket and everyone here loves them. It's a dumb AF bad take because it was already proven wrong once before. People in Cleveland didn't just become Heat fans and there weren't a bunch of Heat jerseys in the arena. There was that one a*****e who wore a James Heat jersey and got deservedly excoriated at an Indians game, but people in Cleveland are Cleveland fans first. If Lebron leaves again it'll be different this time, they'll appreciate the championship he brought, but they're not going to cheer for him over the guys wearing the hometown clothes even with that title. And now that they've experienced the NBA at this level it'll take a really long 90's-like period of anonymous, bad play without any interesting players for the fans to disappear again. Like 2002-2003 11k a night only happened after the team spent 8 years playing awful basketball with boring freelancers (and it happens in every city going through multiple losing seasons), but now the Lebron era has firmly planted NBA basketball into Cleveland's DNA. Before he got there in 2003 Cleveland was the most "they still have an NBA team?" city in the circuit. That won't be the case again for a long long time.
