So where will the Warriors stand among the all-time teams if they keep this up? I’m not gonna look too far ahead because 2016 taught me how dumb that is, but this feels WAY different. This feels as over as any series I’ve ever seen. And it’s not necessarily that the Cavs are a terrible team. It’s just that the Warriors are head and shoulders above, well, everyone right now. I’d be surprised if Cleveland snagged even one here the way this is shaking out.

This team is basically (and again still potentially) a bad quarter away from four straight titles. That’s crazy.

I mean... they did need some terrible officiating and a Cavs player not knowing what was going on just to win game one, so this seems like a bit of hyperbole.  They might still sweep and there's no chance they lose, but come on.

How so? They’re 6–1 in the last two finals series and have been to four straight. I don’t think it’s too unreasonable to say what I said. It at least has to be part of the discussion.

Watching the ESPN Post Game is a drag.  The NBA Finals makes me miss the TNT guys but I enjoy the confrontational nature of Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson on commentary.

The only people that complain about officiating more than fans are unfortunately 2 of the people calling the game.

But nobody will remember that ten years from now when they have won 6 of 7 or whatever. They’ll be in the discussion as greatest ever.

If you were to take these two rosters and cut out half the players to make one roster you'd obviously draft Lebron first, but then you'd take, what, four or five Warriors before you took another Cavalier?

The talent disparity between the two teams is very striking. It feels like a first round series.

LeBron would get a lot of playing time.  Love would give some people a rest.  Korver would become useless because all of the starters can hit 3-pointers anyway.    Non-LeBron Cavs would probably total less than 5-minutes per game.

Would probably go LeBron, KD/Klay, Curry, Green/Love.  After that, I guess maybe Iguadala?  Then I would think Tristian/Jeff Green/Hood would be in there.

It all depends on how you would want to form your team.

It’s more the “the Warriors are so dominant I’d be shocked if Cleveland won a game” part of the post I take umbrage with. Cleveland may well get swept but acting like they don’t belong on the same court as GS when they should be 1-1 in this series seems like an overreaction.

The Warriors will certainly go down as one of the best teams ever, if not the best team ever. But just like we can say “they could’ve/should’ve won four straight” they also could conceivably have one total if not for Love and Irving getting hurt in 2015 and Chris Paul getting hurt in the WCF.

Did I miss something where Kevin Love became a useless pile of crap?

Unfortunately, our coach misses that point all the time and relegates the offense to everyone stand around, don't get the ball where you like it, forget about you for 5-10 minutes at a time, but when LeBron finally passes you the ball from 28 feet away with 2 seconds on the shot clock, you better make the shot or you're useless.

I just had to look it up to confirm Kevin Love has been in Cleveland for four years. Feels like he just got there. Still waiting for him to "click" the way we all expected, honestly. I thought for a while that bad injury luck was to blame for the inconsistency, but I don't know.

It seems like "LeBron makes everyone around him better" withered and died when he left the Heat, where everyone around him was already pretty good to begin with.

That and he was the big fish in a small pond for a run of all-time wretched Timberwolves teams. Maybe he is a pile of crap after all, I dunno.

Kevin Love hasn't been bad, people have just been saddling him with unrealistic expectations.  He's been expected to fill Kyrie's shoes on offense when he was never Kyrie's caliber of scorer in the first place, all while defending Curry on an island.  People bitching about Love putting up 22 and 10 are almost as bad as the people bitching about Lebron only putting up 29, 9, and 13.

Its a lot of this.

Love went from a #1 option, on an offense that was created to play to his skill set.  He then came to a team where he was a #3 option (and sometimes #4 or #5), and considered an after thought, where none of the offense was crafted to suit his unique skill set.  People expected him to produce the same as he did in Minnesota with a fraction of the touches and no real offensive scheme.

For 2 years, he was relegated to a corner 3-pt shooter.  Yes, he lost some weight and lost some aggression, but he is still a matchup headache for 90% of the NBA.

That being said, just like everything else... it comes down to timing.  The Love acquisition was an absolute no brainer at the time... but the NBA was changing rapidly to small ball, pace and space, and death line ups.

It’s amazing how NBA talent is different from NHL talent.

The more talented team damn near ALWAYS wins in basketball.

meanwhile, I could argue the more talented teams both lost in the NHL Conference Finals.

There are a few reasons for this, particularly when talking about the superstars.  LeBron plays 45/48 minutes while an NHL star plays less than half the game.  A LeBron-like NHLer could never carry a team of scrubs this far.  The larger rosters with a much more even spread of playing time equalizes.  Throw in the lower scoring, puck luck, and hot goalies, and it’s just a much different situation.

You can argue all sorts of things about hockey in the hockey thread, yes.
