Wings Posted June 5, 2018 Share Posted June 5, 2018 Arizona as the surprise winner of the Pac-12 South? I'm not sold on USC this year and UCLA is going to take a few years to get used to Chip Kelly. Utah is ok. Colorado will regress again after their run a few years ago. At least it'll be fun watching Herm train wreck it this season at ASU. GriffinM6 Posted June 5, 2018 Share Posted June 5, 2018 I can see my Canes having a very similar season to last year. I'm still not sure we can beat Clemson, but I do see an ACCCG rematch. QB is still an issue, but the RB corps is strong and the defense is still great. Should be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully we can make a run to the playoffs. The problem is Feleipe Franks is probably the best option at QB short-term unless they get a grad transfer as I don't want them to rush Emory Jones into anything. I think 8 or 9 wins is realistic. It also really hurts the Group of 5 conferences. Power 5 coaches will say this is done for "player saftey" as the ACC coaches did but these teams can now guarantee that a FR will get four games in w/o losing a season. That's why Tricky Nicky, Mullen, and Dabo were so in favor of the change and wanted it last season. Add the new early signing period, and the rich get richer. This is just a step in the NCAA attempting to streamline Bylaws and rules. Football, basketball, baseball and hockey were the only sports which made players ask for permission sit when transferring (I wonder why? Wait, they generate income!) There's been a committee for 18+ months trying to get it done, but most every recommendation gets tabled by the chancellors/presidents. This is the fourth attempt in addressing transfers and it looks like something actually stuck this week. The AP College Football podcast from January 23 had the chair of the transfer working committee, South Dakota State AD Justin Sell, who was candid in talking about what the committee was doing. So this won't make much of a difference in the end, I'd imagine. At the very least, it'd be easy to see conferences disallowing transfers within the conference, intrastate, and/or within the conference's geographical footprint. Well, Stanford is usually known to have lineman the size of some small nations, so there’s that. Also, I saw Love play against ASU last season and he absolutey victimized that defense. Granted, the Devil’s defense wasn’t great last year, but he reminded me of Kenjon Barner from Oregon (who I also saw absolute dismantle the Devil defense), only bigger and stronger. Week 1 August 30-September 3 Might actually be the first time I can remember that Notre Dame plays at home in primetime and it'll actually be the biggest game going on. Feels like most weeks when NBC puts ND into the 7:30 time slot, it's overshadowed by the ABC and/or FOX games, when playing at the traditional 3:30 kickoff would've made it the clear biggest game.
