They had to go out of their way to make up that ULM game last year just to get bowl eligible, so I think Jimbo saw bad times coming and a way out. Little bit of column A, little bit of column B. They were clearly trending in the wrong direction under Jimbo, but they're too talented to be as bad as they are. I think the big question with Jimbo was how motivated he was at FSU towards the end. Willie Taggart has a career losing record and was pretty close to getting fired at USF before Quinton Flowers emerged and the OC changed their entire offense. Plus, Francios tore his ACL in Week 1 last year and true FR James Blackman was basically unprepared to play. Charles Kelly's defense was progressively getting worse after the title season too. Those were his only years as a DC at the FBS level and he's now back to a position coach at Tennessee.
