Can’t think of a team in the past that had a road as easy as the English have gotten, but I’ll wait for dfwabel to pull something up. Harry Kane also seems a shoe-in for the Golden Boot (get it?, ok I’ll stop) despite half of his goals being penalties. Group Stage was Saudi Arabia, Ireland, and Cameroon, with the Saudis being the worst team in the tourney. The knockout stage was mediocre Paraguay, USA in quarters, where they arguably got outplayed, and Korea in the Semis, who benefitted from some questionable officiating against Italy and Spain before that. Commentators were giving Muslero a break because the ball was moving - I'm less forgiving. He was out of position for a pretty direct shot and makes a blunder that took the life out of that game for Uruguay.
