If Russia beats Croatia, England might actually back their way into a World Cup Final. Can’t think of a team in the past that had a road as easy as the English have gotten, but I’ll wait for dfwabel to pull something up.

Harry Kane also seems a shoe-in for the Golden Boot (get it?, ok I’ll stop) despite half of his goals being penalties. I’m fine with Kane, but it’s a bit of a letdown for the tournament’s top scorer to be a cheeky penalty merchant as well.

Best post so far.

Logano wins BOWL before Chargers.

Germany in 2002 had a pretty easy route. Group Stage was Saudi Arabia, Ireland, and Cameroon, with the Saudis being the worst team in the tourney. The knockout stage was mediocre Paraguay, USA in quarters, where they arguably got outplayed, and Korea in the Semis, who benefitted from some questionable officiating against Italy and Spain before that.

Absolutely not. The winner of the Golden Boot needs, I said NEEDS, to go to it's rightful owner this tournament. That rightful owner would be none other than the scrappy, plucky little guy called Own Goal. Leading scorer this tournament and shattered the previous record. It would be a TRAVESTY to see anyone else get it.

France sees off Uruguay and Pogba avoids missing the semi-finals after the scuffle in the 66th. Muslero, Caballero, Rob Green and Karius may need to start a Goalkeepers Anonymous group.

Pretty anti-climatic game outside of the last 5 minutes of the first half. Commentators were giving Muslero a break because the ball was moving - I'm less forgiving. He was out of position for a pretty direct shot and makes a blunder that took the life out of that game for Uruguay.

Either way, pleased to see les Bleus moving on - regardless of who the meet in the Semi-final between Belgium and Brazil, that game should be a spectacle, as should today's second match between those two!

Looks like Brazil may not be the last yellow-shirt team standing in this tournament.

This is setting uo up to be a pretty fun and interesting final four.

And just like Neymar, Brazil goes down.

Belgium advances and we're assured of a fourth consecutive European World Cup champion.
