UPDATE

Golden Knights are now 0-5 vs the Caps and with 0 ROWs in 8 games since Imagine Dragons had their pregame performance before Game 2

Gee, it’s almost like the Sand Guys were complete and total frauds who ran into three down squads in the playoffs last year before getting exposed and this season is going to be one giant correction to that mistake. Hmmm, who would’ve seen that coming? SHOCKING!

Cam Ward Report: blew a two-goal lead with seven left in the second and a one-goal lead in the last minute while on a power play, then lost 4-3 in overtime. Please dump him in any one of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes. Why is this being done to me?

I'd say Marc-Andre Fleury, but it doesn't seem like he's seeing anything

I hate to say it, but if you're going into the season without being the beacon of hope for a city after a tragedy and without the Island Oasis of Misfit Toys shoulder chip you're just a second year team with a derelict farm system.

Tonight will be Duncan Keith's 1,000th NHL game, all in the Indian Head. Indisputably the best player of his draft class (Nash? Stajan? Bouwmeester? eat my ass), almost singlehandedly won the Stanley Cup in 2015, should be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and I'd like to hear who else is in the conversation for the best puck-moving defenseman of his generation (he has seven years on Karlsson). He's not quite what he used to be, and it makes me sad the way David Bowie dying made me sad: every indication to this point really was that Duncan Keith would be an elite defenseman forever! But maybe he can still drag us deeper than we should go one more time or two.

He gave up another one soon after to make it 3-2 St. Louis before DeBrincat tied it in regulation and won it in overtime. The defense hasn't been doing its best, with Jokijarju and Gustafsson being speedy risk-takers and Brandon Manning being a keg of toxic waste with hands and feet, but the buck's gotta stop with him. Ward now rocking an .890 sv% and he has a no-move clause. Great. I can't remember the last Blackhawk I hated this much. John Scott? He was garbage. Andrew Desjardins was the worst skater in the NHL for most of his last season with the Blackhawks, but I never found it in myself to hate him for it, that was just a fourth-line wing hitting attrition hard and fast.

As much backlash as there initially was based on his terrifying appearance, Gritty's really been awesome so far. Him coming down from the ceiling of the WFC on the home opener to the tune of "Wreckingball" was hilarious.

“Awesome” and “nightmare fuel” aren’t mutually exclusive.

I like Gritty's crazy antics. He's what a mascot should be. It's just the nightmare googly eyes that are awful...

Well there's been Gritty wedding cakes so there's that.  He crashed the opening of the new Comcast tower and scared the hell out of some jabronis that were working there.  Looks like someone's got a big Gritty head in the crowd at Raw tonight too.  Every girl I know is in love with him and follows him on Instagram and Twitter.  I don't get it - I've heard people say they want to go to Flyers games just to see Gritty, despite the absurd cost.

EDIT:

There's a legit petition to replace a mural of Frank Rizzo near my house with one of Gritty:
