Denying the "trend" set by the Heat doesn't make sense though... The "trend" of those colors being associated with Miami was hardly set by the Heat. Just look at the Heat's own name for it. That being said I'm not from Miami and have never been to Miami. Do people from Miami see this look as representative of their city? While I'm from Broward, I surely do not. Digby
I don't know about the "big hug" bit. But the color whizzes are all in on "Living Coral" for 2019. Just putting that out there, though the funny thing is, if I look at it long enough it looks more like old Marlins Orange than new Marlins Red/Pink. Marlins93
That definitely looks closer to the old orange than the new bright red to my eyes. By the way, I still haven't seen any of the new gear out in public yet. I'm curious to see what everything looks like in person because I've only been evaluating based on photos so far. marlinfan
The hats look gorgeous in person. The blue on the BP jersey really pops. Hopefully that blue is used more in the future. The home whites look great up close but it’s missing something from a distance. I haven’t seen the black or road gray yet. The script has really grown on me. 1997 | 2003

Marlins93
I just like how vibrant the solid teal wordmark looks there. I wish they could have replicated something like that even if they used a different color or entirely new design. That could have been more than a happy medium over the mostly monochromatic look they have now.
Marlins93
Former team president David Samson gave a pretty candid interview yesterday and adamantly asserted that the new Jeter regime "does not care at all about the past" (paraphrased). This leads me to think that teal was never even considered as an option for the rebranding. This does not come as a surprise at all, of course, but it's still interesting to think about. The hubris does remind me a bit of Jeffrey Loria, though.
KGeeX5
To hell with Samson. Never liked him. I'm sure Jeter cares cares the more for the past than Samson did for the product he put on the field.

FiddySicks
I trust David Samson way more than I do anyone currently in that organization. Also, I was a bit disappointed in that interview. I had been waiting for that one for awhile and was hoping for more. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Which brings me to point out: 5 minutes ago, Bucfan56 said: I trust David Samson way more than I do anyone currently in that organization. He helped in the pillaging of the Expos. He's hardly a guy I'd trust entirely. The whole Marlins organization has been a mess since its inception. Maybe giving an expansion team to one of the various Tampa Bay groups in 1993 would have been a better way for the majors to enter Florida. Maybe. marlinfan
I trust that David Samson is a terrible person who was involved in terrible decisions that set the bar lower than any previous Marlins ownership when no one thought it was possible. 1997 | 2003
FiddySicks
Oh yeah I’m not saying he’s a saint or anything, but the current ownership group for the Marlins seems like a lot more of the same. Maybe they’ll grow, but I’m getting my hopes too high. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) marlinfan
I’m satisfied with the direction of the team. I’ll judge the results in 3-4 years. The investment in international talent is a welcome change. 1997 | 2003
SilverBullet1929
I believe Samson to a degree but he's also "an entertainer" now and it wouldn't shock me to hear he's stretching the truth to create drama. He's perfect for that. Still, whatever criticisms Samson has about Jeter and the new ownership is fine by me... Samson was one of the figureheads of the team with the 2nd longest current playoff drought in MLB, he can say whatever he wants but it doesn't cover the fact that his regime was a failure after two seasons and it's now time to give the new ownership their chance to prove they can do better. Despite fans being upset at the team rebuilding it's been pretty clear that this organization has made huge strides in the local community as well as in the business and political communities as well. The mayor actually publicly supports this team (he blasted Loria left and right and purposely didn't attend a single Marlins game in protest)... local big businesses have been openly amazed at how much more pleasant the dealings with this team are (they've said Loria and Samson never cared to gain their support/sponsorship, also why the ballpark has no naming rights)... whatever, I'm rambling, point is that Samson and Loria had a horrible relationship with the community and in one year Derek Jeter (along Samson's direct replacement Chip Bowers) has already made great progress in changing that so I'll take my chances with the new guy.
