I will accept Nashville Honky Tonkers only if Memphis gets a team called the Rockabillies. We can even rename the Memphis USL team if necessary.

The old Nashville logo wasn't very good to begin with. I'd even go as far as to call it bad. And yet, this rumored logo for the MLS move is even worse. That's unfortunate.

I'm gonna wait for something more hi-fi but dangit, I wanted those guitar strings.

My guess is they'll use some justification about there being six vertical lines representing  guitar strings despite them looking nothing like guitar strings

That "SC" doesn't need to be on a line by itself. I'm irrationally upset by it just kind of sitting in negative space all alone.

That's really irking me now that you pointed it out. Nashville Soccer would have looked way better.

The octagon shape is probably the best part of this. I'm not at all convinced by the sound wave N and the colors on their twitter look suspiciously Voltish

I wouldn't be at all surprised if - when the marketing-speak is inevitably rolled-out - we hear the elongated octagon being justified as representing a guitar headstock, or banjo peghead. If that were to be part of the justification for the containment shape's design, I'd be of the mind that said form had been far too oversimplified to effectively pull such a thing off. I'm not suggesting that tuning pegs be a part of the design, but - rather - that the containment shape be a bit more stylized. As it is now, it resembles nothing quite so much as a street sign... maybe, workplace warning signage.

The very bottom? Not so long as New England continues to sport the Crayola Crest.

I’ve long complained about the Revs badge, but I’m not sure I can agree.   It has its own integrity, is very much a product of its time.  And judged on those merits, by its own aesthetic it’s actually well-executed.

This... I really don’t know.

Looks like the Timbers have some slick white alternate shorts to go with their new primary kits:

These likely won’t be worn all that often, but I really like that they have them available as a second choice option. They also create a really spiffy green/white/green combo, though I still prefer the all-green as the first choice look.

Those look great. I've seen the Sounders have that mix on a mannequin at the 90 (green top / white shorts) and loved the look but I don't think they've ever actually used it. Hope the Timbers use these.

Is there a functional point to having a polo shirt style collar on a soccer jersey or is that just some weird holdover from the past where their shirts doubled as church dress shirts or some strange old timey thing like that? That’s by far my least favorite feature on any kind of sports jersey.

That should be Portland’s full time look. IMO, white shorts balance out the kit really well and is a nice break from all the monochrome in the league right now.

Does everything on a uniform have to be functional?

Here's a recreation:

Not feeling it.  What is that supposed to be, sound waves?  Headphones?  A dumbbell?

Looks like a logo for a music app.  Also it looks "volt" to me on the hat, but I guess it must be yellow.

Bottom 5 MLS logo, what a shame, the league had been on a hot streak.  Aw well, gotta have some trash logos to help appreciate the good ones.

This is what I'm saying! I get that they're trying to own green and gold and reducing the amount of white makes the gold stand out more ... but, I think this is a nicer color balance, like Portland's early MLS days but much more refined.

What's the point in changing their logo jumping to the MLS? Didn't Seattle, Montreal, Minnesota & a couple of other teams keep their same logo when they "expanded" to the MLS?

Minnesota kept the same logo with slight tweaks, but everyone else has debuted a fully new logo if they made a jump from a minor league to MLS. Some sort of intellectual property bureaucratic reasons for that.

I'd argue those were all upgrades because their old looks WERE pretty minor league. These days though, even small teams often get with the program in having a professional design, and the existing Nashville SC in USL is a shining example of that. So it is a shame to throw that out.

I do think the green/white/green is a very nice look, especially with this new kit, but I still prefer the all-green as the first choice combo. I consider the all-green to be more of a “signature” look for them going back to their old NASL days (and to a lesser extent their USL years, too). And while this new kit reintroduces white as an accent color, I still feel like the emphasis is (and should be) more on the green and gold, which is clearer when the kit has the green shorts:

Don’t get me wrong, I really do like the white shorts, and I absolutely think they should have the option of going either all-green or green/white/green, but I prefer the latter to only be used as an alternate and/or clash option.

See the weird thing for me is that I usually prefer monochrome or close-to-it kits (#unpopularopinion but it helps with contrast). For some reason I've always preferred Portland with a healthy dose of white, though. Maybe because all that green blends into the field, I dunno. I did really like the early-MLS "green Arsenal" look, and would've liked to see that in current times with simpler design trends than the overly busy 2012 Adidas era.
