WNBA's Chicago Sky unveil new logo

Recommended Posts

The standalone Sears Tower works a lot better on the secondary than it does on the primary. I like the secondary quite a bit. It feels like all the elements on the primary don't quite go together.

The Sears Tower doesn't look right with a symmetrical rendering. It's a 3x3 of towers of varying heights, no good way to divide by two there.

Way better and less Create-A-Team than their old one!

Looking at the new roundel logo, I start to see a little bit of the last-gen Nuggets secondary.

Yeah it’s way better than WSKY soft rock radio station

Not crazy about the way the Sears Tower is represented but the overall idea is solid and a vast improvement over their old logo.

Good to see the WNBA teams have somewhat professional logos (though most of the names are still dumb); hopefully the Mercury and Dream are next.

I thought this was the new logo at first. I definitely prefer this one.

Hopefully that primary is what they put on the chest.

Huge upgrade! I just wish there was a way to add clouds to the identity without it feeling forced or stupid, because that would be a unique element. But the colors and simple design is great in both logos IMO.

Unfortunately, the Sky have gone not only with the sponsor across the chest, but also a secondary sponsor below the shoulder, where other sponsored teams typically put their badge-style logo. With that and Nike using the most generic possible template for every WNBA team, the jersey has no team-specific features, save for the colors.

Tbh, it’s a downgrade for me, always liked the previous one, it wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t much more interesting and less generic than the new one

I almost wish they'd do ads like the CFL. That and giving each team their own look would help a lot.

Why does this logo look like it was part of the tremendous 2003-2009 Nickelodean show "My Life as a Teenage Robot?"

That's what feels off. I couldn't put my finger on it. And I'm with Sodboy's point- that Sears Tower on its own lacks something in the primary. The old logo at least worked in a couple other recognizable buildings

Good idea but I think the Hancock building would have been better. It's symmetry, tapered height, and diagonals would have lent themselves nicely to this design and it is a unique and recognizable Chicago building.

As the most likely youngest board member this reference makes me a very happy camper
