Home cap: Exactly what I expected, even though I was rooting for a white stroke. Not bad, but not great either.

Red alt: I dig it, and it's fairly simple wordmark-wise to have two jerseys with Indians and two with Cleveland. If they had a proper emblem they'd be well served to do a chest logo alternate of some sort. The previous navy looked better than this.

Navy alt: The lack of piping kind of kills this one. Looks ways too much like Boston's navy alt.

Overall this whole set is... fine. The navy script on the road looks even more lifeless and out of place with these updates. Make it red with a navy stroke, add a white stroke to the block Cs and these are solid. I'd love to get the script I back into the mix as well. But for now, with the All-Star patch these ain't half bad. I wonder if they have a plan in place beyond this year or if they'll just stick with the plain Block C, because people are clamoring for more.

Also, in terms of Indians wish-list items, I've always wanted to see a red alt based on this jersey:

I'm betting this is a one-year stopgap to the Nike redesign of everything in 2020.

I think it's a one year stopgap to a complete overhaul in 2020 regardless of a new deal in place for a new manufacturer. What they have right now is a mess of different elements that don't go that well together. Plus, they will be more in the public eye since they're hosting the ASG. And MLB wanted to eradicate Wahoo before this season.

I assume the numbers are staying the same, right? With the block C being emphasized, I think Cleveland should be wearing the numbers the Nationals currently wear. And the Nats should get rid of them.

The Indians have a full font made inspired by the block C.

I’ve never understood the love for that ’70s C. It might not be as generic as the Block C, but that doesn’t also mean it’s actually any good.

I grew up with the Greek "C" but to be honest was never a huge fan of it either.  It's just that save Wahoo, the Indians uniform/logo history is so bland overall that there's little else that has distinguished them, for better or worse.

Absolutely right. This is the best look the team has ever had.

Hold the phone, Chief.  The Greek look of the 1970's was overall one of the ugliest, most ridiculously conceived and mismatched looks in the history of Major League Baseball.  The only redeeming feature of it was the "C" cap, and even that was only because it wasn't as bland as what came before it, or what came after it.  Other than that?  It's in the ash heap of history where it belongs.

The Indians have never been anywhere near the top 5 in looks.

Well, appropriating the look of the Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves for a good bit of your history will cause that.

I've never heard the Greek C be described as "primitive" before. That's a new one to me. I thought it was universally loved. Have a brand new hat with it.

There's a nostalgia for it, again as I posted above, because it was distinctive.  Wahoo was beloved.  The Greek "C" is liked.

If I had but five wishes left that could be fulfilled before I died, one would be that the Cleveland Indians abandon that ****ing Atlanta Braves-like "Indians" script for all time.  Ugh.

Thank you. Just because the "Greek" or "tribal" logos from the 1970s were unique doesn't mean they were good. There have been plenty of uniform designs over the decades that were unique but aesthetically bad, and they should stay in the past.

That script is legit the ONLY thing about this set that’s even remotely interesting. Every single other element is bland garbage. You ditch that, you might as well mine the few memories I have of the Indians from my collective conscious because they’re literally not even worth remembering.

Well with this change and the change to the blue alt I’d like to withdraw my statement that they’re a top 5 uniform in the league

I'll believe it when i see an actual jersey with it and not a template from Fanatics customization tool.

Looks like someone put the gray jersey NOB and number on the home jersey template.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

surprised no one yet is yelling "damn PC culture, got rid of  my beloved Chief!"

They'd be setting themselves up for a board punishment if they did.
