He'll probably play as well in his next city as he did when he played for the Rams.

I think so.  Jacksonville or Washington or someone is going to massively overpay for him even though I think it's already been proven that he's a system QB.  A darn good system QB, one that is capable of reaching Joe Flacco-playoff level at certain points, like last year's SB.  Only question is who overpays for him and for how much.

I just wish there was some realistic way the SBLIICPE could trade him, but none of the scenarios are likely, so they'll just let him go and get some kind of compensation pick next year.

So who do the Rams got on their team, to try to help them win against Brady and the Pats?

I don't know who's their QB. I don't even know anyone on the team.

That says more about you then it does about the Rams.  I don't watch much football outside of the local team, but even I know three of their best players.  It's not like they're some crappy team that nobody saw coming - they have good players, and they're covered pretty well nationally.

Speaking of the Rams' players, remember when Jared Goff was supposed to be a bust but actually it was just that Jeff Fisher was an aggressively mediocre coach (at best)? Imagine how much better the Titans of the early 2000s could have been with a real football coach.

This is the most likely outcome.  Let's be real - the Rams winning would tarnish the trophy since even the commissioner has admitted they shouldn't be there - and I think that once they see the Patriots lined up across from them, at least three of their offensive players will either urinate or defecate in their pants.  Considering the color of their pants, I hope it's only the former.  That would be great, because it'd let McNabb off the hook as the only key player who expelled fluids on the field during the big game.

*and a couple of crappy-ass Giants teams.

Boston's won enough trophies to the point where I think another Pats SB would feel like overkill.

My Mom wanted to watch NFL Honors so I had watched for the first time ever.

Quick Mom* Thoughts:

That was Steve Harvey's best monologue in years.

He's ugly (Matt Nagy)

Why is he (Saquon Barkley) with that ugly girl?

Damn, Joe Namath looks old. Does he dye his hair?

Oh, Deion is in a d@mn, red suit!

Who is Gil Brandt?

Tony Gonzales still looks good.

Damn the NFL Honors does its best to illustrate that the NFL and football is not as destructive as it really is.

It was overkill ten years ago.

Pssst St. Louis...

they were never your team

There are so many articles about how the Rams burned St. Louis, yet let's not forget when Georgia burned LA the first time around and moved them to St. Louis. She pretty much ran that team into the ground for more than a decade to justify the move. It sucks when teams move, but that's pro sports for you. Never get too attached.

Yeah, I don't buy the crap that St. Louis failed the Rams. If eleven straight losing seasons means the fans failed you, then you're looking at sports wrong. Don't blame the fans for not showing up to watch a crappy team like Lions fans.

I've never blamed cities for losing teams. St. Louis really had very little say in how the Rams were run. At the end of the day, these are for-profit businesses that are going to go where the money is. LA was by far the biggest market without a team, someone was going to return eventually. If St. Louis was the size of New York, the Rams would still be there, along with at least one AFC team.

I probably should've specified that I was using the "you" in a general sense and was not pinning that on you; indeed I agreed with your initial comment (and this one too).

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE LOS ANGELES FOOTBALL RAMS

On behalf of all CCSLC board members, casual sports fans, and NFL diehards around the world with no ties to Louisiana or New England:

Greetings.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that on this very day 17 years ago, many of us were rooting against you.  And who could blame us?  You guys were the high-flying, high-octane, well-oiled machine.  Kurt Warner.  Marshall Faulk.  Torry Holt.  Isaac Bruce.  The Greatest Show on Turf was looking for its second title in three years.  And here were these upstart kids from New England, with an out-of-nowhere 6th round QB, and an up-and-coming head coach who was looking to finally hit it big.  They had never won anything.  They may never get the chance to be here again.  Why not root for scrappy little David to beat the well-oiled Goliath?

Oh how wrong we were.

No one, except perhaps that out-of-nowhere 6th round QB and that up-and-coming coach, could have predicted what would follow their narrow victory that sailed right through the uprights off the right foot of Adam Vinatieri.  It was all part of their plan from the start - and we cheered it on to happen.  Now, 17 years later, the teams are the same, and that QB and that coach remain, but virtually everything is different.  Your current coach was in high school on that fateful day.  Your QB was in elementary school.  And your fans had no team to cheer for, still stinging from losing their beloved Rams just seven years earlier.  However, despite all that has changed, one thing remains the same: the narrative.  Only this time, it's you who is David.  Only this time, it's them who is Goliath.  This time, the neutrals are in your corner.  We're all rooting for you to slay the beast.  And who knows, even if you do win, maybe the beast won't be slayed.  After all, we thought last year it was Foles and Co. who had done the deed, and yet here they are again.  But do not let this frighten you.  Although yours may not be the final, finishing blow, every chink in the armor counts.

One day, Goliath will fall.  And let's be honest, if you do win today, and usher in your own dynasty, maybe we'll regret rooting for you today like we regret rooting for David 17 years ago.  But deep down, we all know we won't see anything like this Goliath in the NFL for a while.  We are safe rooting for you today.  You can be part of the solution.  You can right the wrong that was committed 17 years ago to this day.  We are all counting on you.  We believe in you.  Let us experience the enjoyment of seeing the emotionless, joyless, football machine that the New England Patriots have become fall yet again.  You, 32 year old Sean McVay, have the chance to dunk on a league that is so entitled, so stuck-up, and so set in its ways that any college QB entering the draft who doesn't look like Peyton Manning Lite can't possibly be "NFL-ready."  You, Jared Goff, can add Sunshine from Remember the Titans/Ryan Gosling to the legendary list of QBs that have vanquished Tom Brady, a list that includes GOATs such as Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, and Mark Sanchez.  You, Aaron Donald, can prove that defensive greatness still matters in today's NFL.

And just to highlight the final star that falls into line, you can accomplish all of this in those gorgeous throwback uniforms.  Don't let us down, L.A. Too many things have fallen into place.  This is your time.  You can land one more Rebel blow onto the Death Star.

We. Believe.

Sincerely,

Crabcake47

Goliath fell in dramatic fashion less than one full year ago.  Quit being dramatic.

Broncos Country approves this message.

However, thanks are in order to the Pats. Thank You for taking care of SD & KC for us.

Heres to hoping Talib / CJ / Wade Phillips reach the mountaintop once more!

RAM IT!
