MCM0313
The first team to wear uniforms that aren't even (technically, anymore) official team colors in a Super Bowl. Hey, Rams - if your 2020 unis ain't pretty close to these, people will be pissed.
FiddySicks
It’s going to be hilarious when the Rams win the Super Bowl in their best ever looking set and STILL switch to navy and white in a year. Also, I’m pretty sure this is the first time the Rams have ever worn the “home” jersey in the Super Bowl. Rockstar Matt
They’re not switching to navy and white. They announced they’re going to royal blue and gold ages ago. Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

daniel75
These uniforms are vastly overrated imo, that’s not to say they’re bad, just overrated.

Yes there's a real romanticization of these uniforms that represent a rather bland set and middling success on the field with the exception of a handful of playoff teams. From the late 70's to the move to stl, they played in anaheim and were completely overshadowed by the raiders move into LA. The uniforms themselves did not look good at that time, they became very dated and wore the white jersey 80% of the time at home so the classic blue/yellow imagery is a bit of revisionist history in my opinion. You also had the navy helmets and shiny heat pressed jersey numbers worn into the 90's which hung around way too long. Moving into the dome with its horrible lighting just accentuated how pedestrian the uniforms were. While the navy gold set that followed definitely succumbed to trends, it was a cleaned up modern improvement (e.g. removing the shoulder horns) to a very stale set. What killed the current set was changing the gold to khaki because net/net it was an improvement over the anaheim set. Had they gone with the current uniform design and gone with a dark royal + metallic yellow scheme they would have nailed it back in circa '00. Gothamite
Metallic? Never. The athletic gold makes the set work. I could see a darker royal blue, more like Dodger blue. But the athletic gold is untouchable. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

No need to go through such a massive process to update the uniforms and drag this out. This is the Rams look and it’s been adapted wonderfully to a modern template, despite being a throwback. I hope the Rams retain the St. Louis era numbers on their new uniforms in 2020. Hotter Than July > Thriller

I can’t find the exact quote but the Rams PR dude, Demoff, acknowledged that the LA fans overwhelmingly wanted the royal blue and gold colors and seemed to signify that’s the direction they’ll go. "Official" team colors per 2018 media guide are still "Millennium Blue" and "New Century Gold" plus white. They've just gotten really good at hiding the gold. I wish they'd just make royal and yellow their official color scheme again. Those uniforms never needed to be changed and the color combo works so well for L.A. Delicate Genius
This will be the fifth consecutive Super Bowl the NFC has worn their homes. Seattle (SB48) was the last to wear white.

I’m pretty sure they’re going with royal blue and gold, but I think it would be cool if they could do white horns on the road and gold horns at home. Gothamite
Before the NFL had the one-helmet rule, they still prohibited teams from having home and road helmet. And they were right to do so. They can, they just don't want to. The NFL offered them the chance to switch to the throwbacks on the move to LA. They decided they could sell the fans the StL gear and also throwbacks, all while getting them to buy new stuff a few years down the road with the move to a new stadium. The fans hated the StL crap and pretty much exclusively bought the throwback merch, so the Rams started trying to minimize the Millennium set as much as possible, leading to two entirely different looks on the home and road. 5 hours ago, aawagner011 said: Just go ahead and slap a slightly more modern number font on those beauties and call it a day. Or they could just keep the block font they're using because block fonts are almost always better anyway, and this particular font is now unique to them. colortv
Really wish the Rams go yellow/gold dominant with the rebrand. Would be fresh while retaining the LA colors, unique in the NFL and contrast beautifully with the Chargers Powder Blue look.
