AndrewMLind
This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I think both the Browns and Rams should update their helmet logos (provided the latter continues to use it for the foreseeable future) to a modern style. Both originated with a two-bar helmet and developed from there, so I see no reason to keep their current styles given the last of those helmets are being phased out of the league by next year. Only issue with that, of course, would be settling on the style. I imagine the RevoSpeed would be the most friendly from a design standpoint, but the SpeedFlex is probably most appropriate in today’s game. The_Admiral
If anything, the Browns should roll their logo back to the old one-bar helmet. The whole idea of the Browns is supposed to be that they're traditional and old. What would be older than that? Well, a leather helmet, but then it wouldn't make any sense. But that way, instead of having the same helmet logo that everyone has a version of, it would just be a proprietary logo that is a helmet. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The helmet logo style everyone uses comes from a time when most helmets were of a, broadly speaking, standardized design. You could make a generic football helmet logo that looked like every football helmet. These days? There is no singular “new” style to reference. You point it out yourself. The problem with updating would be “settling” on a style. No one style is as universal as the older one you want to replace. Even the RevoSpeed has this issue. It’s not widespread enough to be the “default.” The older style helmets that formed the basis for the Rams and Browns’ helmet logos may be gone sooner rather than later but so what? It’s still recognizable as the “football” helmet. It’s like the floppy disk icon on the “Save” button. An anachronism that still conveys the intended message. I wouldn’t find it acceptable to use a leather helmet two-bar facemask, either, even those are still “recognizable” as a football helmet. They’ve both been updated throughout the years to match the then-current style, so it shouldn’t be shocking to see someone suggest another update. My biggest argument is truly that neither is truly a logo: They are simply a representation of what their helmets look(ed) like, but are applied by these teams as if they are a logo. @the admiral even pointed out how every team has/had a version of that exact helmet with their specific design on it. There’s nothing unique or inherently Browns/Rams about them, and nothing that ties either team to these specific helmet styles. However, rather than updating the style of helmet, I’d honestly rather see the Rams continue to use their actual logo and the Browns use the elf or create something new to encapsulate what the Browns represent. ZapRowsdower8
I could be wrong, but this has to be the fastest turn around between Championship game Sunday and the field already being painted with photos online. I remember past years hoping the end zones would be visible during media day and being disappointed.

BBTV
The other problem with using a modern helmet is that the styles are brand-specific, so the team would be inadvertently endorsing / advertising one specific brand. FiddySicks
Why did the NFL absolutely insist for so long that they weren’t going to let the Rams mess with their set even despite the move? I mean, they ended up caving this season anyway on the uniforms, and anyone could’ve gauged that this was what the fans wanted from day one. Now we have a situation where the Super Bowl uniform set and logos that go with it are all throwback logos, and we have this entirely different set of logos in a different color scheme out there to just to muddle the whole thing up. They should’ve just let them recolor the Ram head logo to royal and yellow from the beginning and avoided this whole mess. Instead they tried to “protect the brand” and ended up just :censored:ing it up even worse.
