andrewharrington
This is not really a font question so much as it is a hardware question regarding fonts.I just got a new Apple notebook, and I am in the process of trashing apps I will never use, and organizing folders and such before I install Adobe CS2, Office:Mac, and my corps of applications I do use. Basically, I want to move all my non-system fonts to one folder. Is it best to place them in Library > Fonts on the hard disk, or in Library > Fonts in the User home folder, or some different place? fiasco!
i place all my fonts (except system fonts) in a separate hard drive partition, just labelled 'fonts'. that way there's no confusion as to where to put them.i have 27 folders in that partition, "A" - "Z" and "Misc", and i let Suitcase do the rest of the work. Mings
I do the same thing as Joel does. If you don't once you get a ton of fonts, Office starts to freak out on you.

andrewharrington
Would any of you font gurus reccommend the "MacFonts" or "MacFonts2" software? They are quite inexpensive for having so many fonts, but are there enough good, usable fonts in them to necessitate buying them? TurnTwo
How do you download a font and make it usable? Whenever I download one I get a box that shows the font used saying "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" but I never know where to go from there. I haven't worked in Windows for a while, but I believe that if you take the font file and drag it (or otherwise copy it) into C:/Windows/Fonts, that should do the trick. I know in 98SE, you could go into the start menu to Settings and open up Control Panel, and find the fonts folder there as well; might be worth checking out. They are quite inexpensive for having so many fonts, but are there enough good, usable fonts in them to necessitate buying them? honestly, i don't like either....my wife bought them both, though, and they are on my computer.most of the fonts seem to be knockoffs of the real deal.i'd try to find a way to procure the real versions of the fonts, see if you can find a deeply discounted version of the adobe font folio.i'm lucky, i was able to get the entire adobe type library through my work for $450, because the company i work for has an awesome pricing deal with adobe.if you can't get your hands on the adobe stuff, i suppose the macfonts and macfonts 2 collections are reasonable alternatives. andrewharrington
Thank you Joel. Do you know if there is a way to get the Font Folio without a multi-computer license? All Adobe has on its website are 10 and 20 computer licenses and they are like, $5000 and $9000, respectively, and that is too rich for me for fonts. I really only need a one computer license, which I would imagine to be much less expensive. I'm going to look around and see what I can find. Again, thanks for the help. krownjewelz44
I know you guys said that 99% of the sports teams have custom fonts, but how do most of the guys in here get them for use. Is there a site that has them? Or does someone have them somewhere?
