MLB changes for 2007?

Mr. Anti-leak (TOG) is doing nothing but leak on the UniWatch blog.

Among his claims:

A team will wear brick red next year other than the Astros.

The Cubs will bring back names on the back of their jerseys.

Another team is making a "minor change" compared to the brick red team. (Could be the Reds' navy, I suppose.)

At any rate, he's frustrated those at UW who don't know him with his teases while standing behind a "I don't leak" motto. Hmmm, those are leaks listed above in my book.

Now, is he telling the truth? Or is he deliberately misleading? I'll let those of you with better investigating skills than me be the judge. I'm doing what I can to find out about the Cubs. I think it would be great if he ended up being the original source of leaked info. Might cut down on those trips to "Park Ave."

Here is some of his quote:

"No can do. No leaking. Viewed at MLB headquarters on Park Ave. A very nice change. Only concern is the Astros brick red has been proprietary to them until next season.

And saw another team making a change but much more minor than team A.

One trend to look for, vests are going to be diminished over the next few years on many teams."

I wish Houston would wear the Brick Red hats more often, like with the Brick Red jerseys.

I sincerly doubt that the Dodgers and Cubs will be adding names to the back of their jerseys. Well, maybe the Dodgers to their aways, but that's it.

Frank McCourt has already announced the Dodgers will have the names on the backs of both the home and away jerseys next season...at the request of his wife. The announcement was in February.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

I'd call his bluff. I don't see how he'd know that kind of stuff so early; heck, I don't think a lot of teams would know it that early. But then again, I don't know why he'd just go ahead and make himself look like a hypocrite for no reason.

Whose bluff are you calling? McCourt's or Mr. Anti-Leak's?

The brick?

You heard it here first: the Philadelphia Phillies.

They've been cherry red since 1993 and won an NLCS right out of the box, but the uniform hasn't changed since (except for the occasional sleeve patch).

I think they'll go a shade towards the cranberry they wore in the 70s and 80s. Perhaps this?

The designs have to be in like 12-18 months in advance of any actual changes. So any new jersey designs are already out there in someone's file cabinet / desk drawer over at Majestic.

I know someone who has the 2007 Majestic MLB catalog. He just got it in the last 6 weeks. I can try to call him this week to see what changes are in it.

And I vote TB for the brick change, only because ex-Astro GM Gerry Hunsicker is there, and it's mildly logical that he might have at least suggested that as an option. Or maybe the Reds, but I just thought the new ownership was dropping the black accents.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

The brick red won't be w/ the Rays. It wont be a team with fire engine red (Cards, Phils, Nats). I'm assuming it'll be a team thats making a change. The D-Backs could be this team. 2 of 3 teams in the Phoenix area wear a shade of brick red (Coyotes, Cards), wouldn't surprise me.

The owner of the D-backs has already repeatedly said that they will NOT be changing the colors of the team, which I agree with. The D-Backs have colors that are unique to them and the area.

My guess is the Devil Rays because we've already heard that they are in the process of doing an image overhaul. They'll probably drop the "Devil" and become the "Tampa Bay Rays" as the always should have been. I think a Brick red and gold with light blue accent would be a nice change.
