I'm exceedingly thrilled about the Cuban embargo being lifted and Cuban cigars being legal in the U.S. again. I was running out of jackets.

Finally getting the chance to call some play-by-play. The station I currently work for carries some games of the local hockey team (the same team I used to work for, actually) and we weren't able to carry tonight's game but the team needed someone to do the call for the online video broadcast.

I got back into the United States from a trip to Mexico to find that my phone had been accessing a Mexican cellular data network on its own. It used enough data to suspend my data plan altogether (even in the US) and ran up $460 in charges. I called AT&T to see if they could at least restore my access to the domestic network. The representative told me that she could retroactively apply an international package to my plan, reducing the charges to a one-time $30 fee, and restore access immediately. The whole situation was my fault since I didn't think to turn off data roaming, so I was thrilled.

Yeah I had something similar happen to me twice. The first time was during my trip through Europe, and the second time was while passing through Ft. Hancock, Texas (for some reason it registered that we were in Mexico). Both times it skyrocketed my bill, and both times they ended up fixing it for me after I got back home.

Yeah, I also had that happen to me without even leaving the country (although not to that extent because I don't have a data plan).  I was in Niagara Falls, NY and my phone picked up the stupid Rogers (Canadian) network.

Same thing for me, but on the better side of Niagara Falls.

But but but but the actual city of Niagara, Canada is a total tourist trap with a wax museum on every corner and cheap (not in price) attractions as far as the eye can see.
